Gun Parts History in Weslaco, Texas began with the arrival of the first guns to the area in 1876. The town was established on a cattle ranch by George A. Smith and His Sons. At that time, guns were brought overland from Chicago. The first revolver in Weslaco was made by Hennepin County Sheriff John Millington in 1879. In 1896, Wesson Firearms manufactured rifles and pistols here at their original location on Elm Street. That company closed its doors in 1903 due to competition from Winchester Firearms who had moved into town from Wichita Falls, Texas two years earlier. However, Wesson reopened as a firearms manufacturer in 1904 and continued operations until 1959 when it merged with Colt Manufacturing Company to form Colt-Wesson Corporation. The first gunsmithing shop opened up shop in Weslaco back in 1876 by George A. Smith and Sons which became known as the “Queen City Gunsmiths” because they could do all types of gun work including firelocks, hammers, stocks and triggers for many different brands of firearms including Colts (including Model 1860s), Remington Arms (Rifles & Shotguns), Savage Arms (Pistols) and other prominent manufacturers back then. In 1912-1913, Wesson Firearms built a new armory next door to their old one which housed both their rifle factory and pistol factory along with other parts suppliers - most notably Lord & Taylor Sporting Goods Store - throughout much of World War I until 1919 when production ceased due to military restrictions placed on firearm manufacturing during wartime times In 1954-1955 Colt-Wesson Corporation produced its last firearm - an inch (.25 caliber) steel ballistic missile called the Ranger - at their plant here in Weslaco prior to closing down permanently due to lack of demand Today there is only one remaining Wesson Firearms facility open within Texas - located inside John Wayne Airport near Las Vegas Nevada where they produce revolvers for law enforcement officers .

In 1847, the Republic of Texas passed an act creating a new county within Travis County named for General Sam Houston. On January 3, 1850, the old school building in Weslaco burned down and was replaced with a new one. A courthouse was also built in Weslaco in 1850.
