Webster, Texas is a city located in Hood County, Texas. It is the county seat of Hood County and was founded in 1876. The population of Webster as of the 2010 Census was 27,310. In 1863, General John A. Armistead's brigade moved from Fort Worth to make camp on the Brazos River east of what is now Webster. They were met by General George B. McClellan's army who had landed on Lake Texoma and were threatening to march downstream to San Antonio if they did not leave. The brigades fought throughout the day and night against about 25,000 Confederate soldiers under Brigadier General James Ewing who had come overland from Corpus Christi with orders to drive the Texans away before they could cross the river at night. General Armistead's brigade numbered 11 officers and 250 men including six artillery pieces which helped turn the tide against the Confederacy. Aftermath: On November 9th 1865, two days after their victory at Oak Hill, General McClellan announced that he would be withdrawing his forces northward into Mexico City while Major-General Burnside took command of all Union troops in Texas pending further instructions from Washington DC. Webster is a small town in Maverick County, Texas, United States. The population was 3,829 at the 2010 census. Webster is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. The Webster community sprang up around the turn of the century on land donated to them by John H. Webster, one of the founders of Fort Worth. The first post office was established in 1899 and operated for six years under the name "Maverick". In 1902, a new post office named "Webster" was erected and served until it closed in 1909. The town's namesake came from John H. Webster's daughter who married John A. Webber, one of the original settlers in this area. Mrs. Webber requested that her father be given an easy way to get around Fort Worth so he could see his children more often; he agreed and named his daughter after him. The town grew rapidly through word-of-mouth marketing and donations from other settler families until it had a population of over 100 in 1920 when it incorporated as a village under the name "Webster". After World War II ended, Webster experienced rapid growth as people fled war zones throughout Southwest Asia following the Korean War and Vietnam Wars. They poured into what had been little more than farmland; by 1970, there were only 7 residents living in Webster City proper while 20% of the total population lived within five miles (8 km) of its borders on either side of I-10 eastbound or I-20 westbound Interstate highways

Webster is a town in Gregg County, Texas, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 4,869. The original settlers in what is now Webster were cattle ranchers and farmers who arrived in 1871. The town was named after John Webster, a British settler and landowner who helped to purchase 640 acres (2 km2) of land from Sam Houston for $5 per acre. In 1886 Webster became the county seat of Gregg County. The townsite at what is now Webster was organized on March 12, 1871 when eight men from neighboring Burleson formed the first Webster Township. They donated 2 sections of land each to create the township site - one north of Fourth Street and one south of Interstate 20. The first post office was established in 1872 with Wm. Fenton as Postmaster-General; it operated until 1886 when it became part of Burleson. Incorporated as a city on December 1, 1907 by an act of the State Legislature under charter number 82501 (now code TxDOT), Webster experienced rapid growth during World War I and II due to its strategic location between San Antonio and Austin on both sides of Interstate 35W; however, following the war's end most industries left the city or relocated out Of state while services such as education grew more important to local residents As early as 1896 there had been talk about building a depot at what is now Webster because transportation was so important to businesses located thereabouts The idea for a hotel/motel complex near present day I-35W came about in 1916 when soon after President Woodrow Wilson visited Webb City he said that if he could find a suitable spot for his presidential home "I think we would build up some fine hotels here." In 1933 Driscoll built her third windmill which still stands today just east off Ulysses Lane next door to her old grocery store across from Texas A&M University’s Zicklin College campus
