Gun targets have been a part of Webster, Texas since the 1800s. The first known target in the area was a stocky black bear that stood 5-feet tall and weighed 100 pounds. The target has been used as a teaching tool for children in Webster and surrounding counties ever since. The first pistol shooting competition in Webster took place on October 25, 1892. That same year, a man named Walthall organized the first state pistol shooting championship at what is now the old Watkins ranch near town. From that point on, gun targets were an integral part of local rifle and shotgun competitions. In 1916, a miller named Johnnie Ladd donated land to Webster County for use as agun range. The range has been used by both county government officials and private shooters ever since. In 1957, when Interstate 10 was built through town, Gun Range officials decided to close their doors for good because of budget cuts. However, they reopened two years later after getting new funding from the state legislature. Since then, Gun Range has continued to be an important resource for locals in Webster and surrounding counties!

Webster, Texas is a small town in Hudspeth County, Texas. The population was 1,645 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Austin-Round Rock Metropolitan Statistical Area. The townsite was named for General John Webster who fought in the Mexican–American War and later served as U.S. Minister to Mexico City under President James K. Polk. Webster's Creek flows through the town. The first European settlers arrived in present-day Webster in 1848 after traveling down Trinity River from San Antonio via what is now Midland and Williamson Counties. They were led by cattleman David Bremner and his brother George Bremner, both of whom became active in local politics and property ownership early on. The first store opened here on December 12, 1849 by Elijah Auld with supplies brought overland from San Antonio via the Rio Grande Valley network of roads that would become known as Old Spanish Trail (later Ulysses S Grant Highway). In 1850, Auld married Margaret McCulloch, daughter of Plantersville resident Ethan McCulloch and wife Anna Bateson (née Ball). A new courthouse was built here in 1892 following construction of Richardson Air Force Base which then filled the need for an official court building east of downtown Austin that could serve simultaneously as county courthouse and jail. Today’s prison complex – located just north of town off FM 620 – was constructed on land donated by Mrs. Donelson familymember Dolphus Hearst during World War II when their home near Lamar became a POW camp for Japanese Americans living east of Interstate 35W! In 1916 William Ladd became one of the original trustees for Hudspeth County Schools when it was organized from portions of Travis County schools that had been closed due to financial difficulties caused by World War I leaders such as Governor Edwin Edwards seeking to Militarize Education!Although only 2 years old at the time he purchased all 7 acres adjacent to what is now First Baptist Church square footage which included today’s Webster High School! He started school there Sept 15th 1916 with 6 students & 30 cents per day rent $2/week

Webster, Texas is a city in Midland County, Texas, United States. The population was 7,812 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Midland County and part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. Webster was founded in 1879 by John W. Webster as the town of Webster Springs. The name commemorates him and his wife Celia (née Fitzpatrick). The first post office in Webster opened on October 15, 1879. In 1907, it became known as "Webster" after John W. Webster's death. On November 17, 1907, the town incorporated as a city under the name "Texarkana". The original Websters had no children to succeed them so they named their daughter Texarkana after her father's home state of Texas (Arkansas). The City Council renamed themselves again to "Webster" on December 3rd of that year because it was felt that this name would stay with the city for many years to come. In 1917 when Midland County merged into Dallas County, Texarkana was placed within Dallas County although its status as an independent city continued until 1921 when it became part ofMidlandCounty again under jurisdiction fromDallas COUNTY ONLY
The first settlers in the area that is now Webster, Texas were French Canadians who arrived in the early 1800s. In 1836, the Republic of Texas was founded and Webster soon became part of its government. The town's population grew rapidly during the 1830s and 1840s, thanks to its strategic location at the junction of two wagon roads connecting Santa Fe with Austin andMexican Trail townships. By 1850, Webster had a population of over 1,000 people. During the American Civil War, Webster sided with the Confederacy from start to finish. However, by 1865 it had rejoined Union hands as part of the more populous county within Texas known as East Texas. The well-to-do town gradually lost its economic importance following Texan secession in 1861 and Reconstruction followed thereafter. By 1870, however, Webster's population still exceeded 500 people. It declined further during World War II due to lack of industry and post-war prosperity among other nearby communities. Today a tiny remnant remains around Weldon Road just outside town limits
