Webster is a city in and the county seat of Davie County, Texas, United States. The population was 599 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Houston–Brazoria–Galveston metropolitan area. Webster was founded on October 16, 1872, by J.N. "Ned" Webster and his brother James Fenton Webster as a small town on the Brazos River near present-day Humble and FM 19606. The site for the new town had been chosen by General John Tuggle during the early days of Texas' annexation into the United States in February 1867. The original town site was located between present-day IH 10 and FM 19606 south of what is now Parkridge Drive in Humble. A community center was built there in 1872 and renamed Webster after JN & James's father who had also settled there in 1852 (the Websters were from Newburyport Massachusetts). In 1876, when per capita income for Dallas County hit $1,500, Webster became one of first Dallas County municipalities to approve an assessment bond issue to finance its own public works program (including street paving, lighting improvements, water supply development etc.). This event marks a turning point for Webster as it soon became an important commercial center with businesses such as Piggly Wiggly fast becoming established downtown and alongFM19606 east of Highway 10 (now Richards Bayou Boulevard). In 1907 Wichita Hotel opened its doors across US 75 from downtown - this hotel would become known as The Starlite Motel later that year when it merged with Quality Inn chain which operated hotels adjacent to Richardson Bayou Boulevard until 1983 when they closed their doors due to economic decline within that area). The post office located at 6th Street NW corner Main Avenue served both towns until 1915 when it relocated to what is now FM 2222 just east of Addison Road in MidtownHouston - this move represented another significant milestone for Webster as it Soonbecamethe only municipality west of Interstate 610 (and only north side suburb)to have its own post office! In 1916 brothers JF & JS Weldon purchased Webb Coffee House at 235 Neches St., now home to Covette’s Bakery on Neches Street NW next door to Rice University’s Cullen Library – Webb continued serving coffee until 1941 when he sold his business to Harry Covington who operated it until 1984 before moving out West into downtown Houston where he ran several successful restaurants including Regal Ballroom which still stands today acrossfrom State Capitol Plaza – Webb also donated land adjacentto State Capitol Plazafor future use as well! Webster is a small town in Midland County, Texas, United States. The population was 7,763 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land metropolitan area. Webster was founded in 1836 by Simon Webster and his wife Esther. The name comes from an early settler, Isaac Webster, who named the town after himself. In 1881, a post office called Webster was established and mail reached the town from Commerce on April Fool's Day for the first time. In 1886, a sawmill and grist mill were built in Webster; these mills processed lumber from local trees and produced flour for local consumption until 1914. A railroad crossed the county near Webster and commerce became an important center for trade with nearby Fort Worth; this development led to the creation of new businesses such as a dry goods store, grocery store, auto dealership, insurance company and banking institution among others. A high school named for Mrs. S Hawkins (1834-1921) opened in 1917 in Webster; it is now known as comprehensive High School affectionately referred to as "The Lady Smith". A fire destroyed most of downtown Webster on Christmas Eve 1925 but only 5 buildings overall were damaged due to rain water flooding while other structures sustained only minor damage including one home which still stands today (it has since been restored). On July 1st 1934 during prohibition twenty stores located throughout Harris County opened their doors Temperance Drug Company operated under license by Myron Ewing & Brother
