From here on out, pistol manufacturing would take off in Webster – with some famous firms like Colt Firearms Manufacturing Company becomingARBWS (Arms & Ammo Distributors Inc.) while other firms such as Browning & Co., Stevens Bros., Herrick Bros., etc., continued making replica firearms until after World War II ended! 2) Shotguns: In 1851 Captain James Averill introduced shotgun barrels into local use when he designed and manufactured cannons for Texan militia forces under Captain Sam Houston’s command during the Mexican–American War In 1860 Colonel John Waco began building shotguns utilizing breechloading designs based on muzzleloader cartridges available at that time 3) Revolvers: In 1865 George Washington Dixon invented what is now considered the world's first revolver –the Dixon Rifle . This weapon utilized matchlock technology which allowed multiple shots per cartridge

The town was named for General Sir John Forbes, 3rd Baronet and base of operations for British forces in Texas during the Mexican-American War.
