Waxahachie, Texas is a town located in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. It had a population of 113,722 as of 2010. The name "Waxahachie" was given to it by General Custer in 1881. The first settler in Waxahachie was James K. Polk who arrived in 1851. The present day town was platted on November 1, 1871, by John Hogg and Wm. Boulton under the name of "San Antonio". The first rifle stock company in Waxahachie was organized on December 9, 1872, by Captains Denton and Hitchcock with the help of local settlers. On March 8, 1875, Captain Dixon erected a schoolhouse and arms store at the corner of Elm and Washington Streets. In 1880 David Fenton opened a general store at 419 Elm Street which became one of the most important businesses in town until it closed its doors in 1984. A post office called Waxahachie was established at this location on October 30, 1882; however it never operated due to lack of mail service to the area during that time frame In 1902 Captain Hargrave organized a rifle range outfitting business at 6th & Elm Streets which became one of the most successful businesses in town for many years until it closed its doors too around 1985 . Waxahachie is located on Brazos River near its confluence with the Trinity River. The first permanent settler in what would become Waxahachie was John Crain in 1849. He and his family were among the original Texans who fought for independence from Mexico during the Mexican–American War. When Texas became an American state, Crain emigrated to what would become McLennan County and began to build a home on a parcel of land he purchased from the Mexican government at Pecos River Rancho de las Pulgas (now part of Brownwood). The town site formed when parts of two adjoining ranchos were combined to create one large parcel – now known as Waxahachie – in 1851. Waxahachie quickly became an important stop on stagecoaches travelling between Austin and San Antonio, and soon developed into a busy industrial center due to its location near several oil wells drilled by local entrepreneurs such as George Wirtz and James Fenton. In 1915, Waxahachie hosted its first international exposition, which attracted many visitors from around the world to see new technologies being developed there including photography, automobiles and aircrafts. By 1933, thanks to hard work by city officials and industry leaders alike, Waxahachie had turned into one of Texas' most prosperous cities with over 100 businesses employing more than 1,000 workers; it boasted some of the highest murder rates in all of America during that time period! This property included nearly all remaining land east Of Amarillo In McLennan County !!!!! This property has been known since before 1920 when Arapaho Indians started living there !!!!!

Waxahachie is a town located in the U.S. state of Texas, on the Brazos River. The population was 1,592 at the 2010 census. Waxahachie is named after General John Buford Baylor's Rancho de las Encinas, which was located in what is now Waxahachie County. The name comes from Waco (a Texan Nahuatl word meaning "place where wild flowers grow"), and Achacha-hachi or "old house". In 1836, Captain James Fenton established a trading post and store near what is now downtown Waxahachie. In 1845, Colonel James Denton founded an agricultural society that became known as The Denton brothers Land Company. Daniel Boone arrived in 1846 to survey and purchase land for his colony at Fort Bend County’s present-day Clear Lake Park. On July 17 of that year, he penned a letter to his fellow settlers pledging himself “to clear and cultivate this tract of country with all possible expedition” according to contemporary accounts - one which would later become famous as the Ridgecrest Manifesto. In 1850, Samuel Houston arrived in Texas from Louisiana with his family – including future president Houston – settling along Buffalo Bayou just east of downtown Waxahachie in what would eventually become Harris County. At that time there were only about 100 people living in Waxahachie when Houston moved there in 1853; within 10 years he had increased that number to more than 2,000 colonists spread across six square miles of rolling prairies adjoining Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport today. Houston played an important role early on in waxahatchee history by donating land for a public school district which laid the groundwork for many churches and businesses current within the town limits today such as ExxonMobil headquarters building blocks away from Center Street Baptist Church & First Baptist Church (now called Trinity United Methodist) both built during the 1960s/1970s when oil production exploded into town spurring economic growth & investment
