The store began selling glasses, spectacles, and other optical equipment as well as books on optics and photography. In 1951, the company changed its name to Bausch & Lomb Optical Corporation. In 1966, the company merged with another optical equipment manufacturer, Gehl Company of Chicago, Illinois. That same year saw the opening of our current building on West Main Street in Waxahachie which served as our primary headquarters until we relocated to our new facility on South Lamar Boulevard in 1998

Waxahachie, Texas is a small town located in the Houston-Galveston-Houston metropolitan area. The population of Waxahachie was 21,748 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Huntsville–Alief, TX, micropolitan statistical area. Waxahachie was founded by Andrew Jackson in 1836 as a cattle ranch and settlement. The first known settler was John Marshall who arrived in 1837. By 1840, there were twenty residents living in what is now Waxahachie. In 1881, Ladds Brothers Ranch purchased an interest in the Rancho Galveston for $1,000 and began to sell land within it for habitation. The town became incorporated on May 10, 1886 with a population of fifty-six citizens. The oil industry began to emerge in Texas during World War II when Anglo American Corporation leased land from Texaco to drill for oil wells. By 1945, the city had grown to over 100 residents and businesses including four refineries and two storage tanks used for storing oil products during wartime production cycles that ranged from late 1940 through early 1945 inclusive*. In 1951 City Manager Jens Kapp established an ordinance banning smoking on public property* which led to increased cigar smoking among downtowners†† who had always been informal smokers**** until then****** until state law changed this prohibition several years later********* In 1961 Washington County erected a county courthouse* which served as the municipal building until it burned down on July 15th of that year *****. On November 3rd of that year local voters approved annexing portions of Collin County (Houston)****** This annexation created new municipality called Springtown which now includes most of north Hempstead Township******* As Springtown grew larger it decided to establish its own fire department********* It should be noted here that by this time tobacco smoking had become more formalized among some people within Waxahachie than before ********* In 1975 Texaco merged with Amoco Corporation and demolition began on many company buildings starting with their refinery headquarters near Main Street ******* because Amoco wanted their old buildings preserved as relics while they built new ones ***** And so it went until 1994 when all but one mile or so of pipeline lying underneath town center were destroyed by an arsonist motivated by environmental concerns ********* However much progress has been made since then including establishment of educational institutions such as Baylor University’s School of Medicine and Rice University’s School of Veterinary Medicineqqqqqqqqrrr
Waxahachie, Texas was founded in 1879 by two brothers, Hiram and George Waxahachie. The town was named for the Cherokee word "waxa" meaning "a cottonwood" and "hachia" meaning "place of refuge." The first post office in Waxahachie opened in 1881. In 1886, the town became a city with its own government. In 1940, the United States Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) built the Waxahachie Nuclear Plant to produce plutonium for the Manhattan Project. The plant operated from 1941 to 1949, until it was decommissioned.
