In Watauga, Texas, the shooting protection history of the town dates back to 1865. The first time that firearms were used in Watauga was when a group of Confederate soldiers invaded the town and began firing upon the people. One man, James Gilmore, took action and shot one of the Confederate Soldiers. This event is considered to be the beginning of gun ownership in Watauga. The next time that gunfire was reported in Watauga was on October 12th 1865 when agroup of Union Soldiers arrived at town and began firing upon residents. Two men, John Reardon and Alexander Caldwell were killed as a result of this gunfire. On December 3rd 1865 another group of Union Soldiers arrived at town and started shooting indiscriminately upon civilians. A woman named Martha Hanks was hit by one shot and died as a result. On February 28th 1866 two men named Robert Withers and Homer Fenton went out into the woods to collect guns for their personal use when they encountered four Confederate Officers who had been stationed there earlier that day. As soon as they realized who they were dealing with, Withers fired two shots which killed one officer while Fenton managed to shoot two other officers dead before being captured by these officers. This event is considered to be an early example of self-defense shootings in Texas. Later that year on April 9th 1866 three men named William Sells, James Gillespie, and Daniel Farwell went out into the woods to collect firearms for their personal use when they ran into five Confederate Officers who had also been stationed there earlier that day. Once again, as soon as they realized who these individuals were dealing with Sells opened fire which killed two officers while Gillespie managed to shoot one other officer dead before being captured by these officers too. This event is also considered an early example of gun ownership in Texas’ capital city Dallas! In 1868 George Hargrave went out into the woods near his home with some friends to purchase some rifles for himself and his family members only thing he found inside was three pistols! The following year on May 6th George Hargrave along with six others purchased twenty-four rifles from Elias Pemberton during rifle sales at Fort Worth’s Market Square courthouse! These purchases allowed them become instant owners of rifles in Texas! It wasn’t until 1870 though that handguns became officially legal within Texas thanks To Judge Watkins rulings! On January 14th 1870 Samuel Troup came over from Tennessee looking for land down around Houston he claimed north east side lot number 6 on Waterloo Street - this lot would later become known as “Watauga Arsenal” after Troup bought it from Jens Eriksen for $1 million dollars!!! It can be safely assumed that throughout its long history firearms have always been an important part of life in Watauga!!

Watauga is a city in Marshall County, Texas, United States. The population was 5,552 at the 2010 census. It is the second-largest city in Marshall County after Lubbock. Watauga is part of the Wichita Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town of Watauga was founded by General James Robertson on November 15, 1836 as a trading post on an old Wichita Trace road between Lubbock and Amarillo. In 1839, Watauga became a county seat under the name of Fort Worth. On May 6, 1844, the Tejas River flooded and destroyed most of Fort Worth; however, Watauga escaped damage because it had been built atop a low bluff overlooking the riverbed. The town prospered as a cotton trading center until World War II when its manufacturing base shifted to aircraft production and other defense-related ventures. Watauga has experienced significant growth since peaking in population at 11,811 in 1960; today it ranks as one of Texas' fastest-growing cities with over 20,000 residents according to recent census figures released by the TX Division of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). This growth has been spurred by several factors including: population growth within existing urban boundaries; annexation of adjacent rural areas; development of new housing developments along Interstate 35E and IX Road leading to downtown Watonga; establishment of educational institutions such as Baylor University's Waco campus (the first university outside Austin) and Texas A&M University's Kingsbury Campus (one mile from downtown);and job opportunities for people who work in industry or services that are available virtually anywhere in central Texas

One of the earliest shooting protectors was a padlock on a rifle stock that used metal teeth to secure it to the shoulder stock (Chambers & Wesson pistols). This type of shooting protector was replaced in 1934 by an alloy plate with screw threads that tightened around the barrel and breech block (Walther PPK pistols) and then around other parts of the gun such as stocks, grips, and barrels (Browning Hi-Power rifles; Colt 1911 pistols). In 1947, an adjustable trigger guard became available which allowed shooters to adjust how much slack was left between trigger pull and shot discharge (Remington 8mm revolvers; Glock 18 pistols). In 1961, a triangular shield became available which allowed shooters to shoot at close range without risk from round impacts on face or head (Glock 19 handguns). In 1966, military snipers began using a T-barring system on rifle stocks which prevented rounds from passing through into adjacent hands (MILITARY STANDARD 9mm Pistols; Beretta 92F shotguns). T-bars have since been replaced by standard sling swivels in most firearms. The use of masks also began to increase in popularity in the late 1960s when it became aware that many criminals were wearing masks while committing crimes because they knew that if they were caught without their mask they would be executed.
