The company grew rapidly and by 1907 had produced over 1 million lenses for rifles across all types of firearms. In 1951, RifleScopeCo merged with Cabela’s Incorporated to form Cabela’s Inc., which remains an important player in the rifle scope market today.
Watauga is a small town located in Johnson County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,871 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Watauga was John White in 1836. The town was named for General James Wilkinson who fought in the Mexican-American War and subsequently became governor of Texas. Watauga grew rapidly due to its location on the San Antonio River and its access to transportation via ferryboats from downtown Dallas. By 1850, Watauga had a school and two churches. In 1857, Watauga donated land to form Trinity Church Cemetery which still contains many of the town's original gravesites. In 1876, David Caughey founded Drake Manufacturing Company which soon became one of Texas' leading defense contractors. The company produced artillery shells and rifles for both American Union forces during the American Civil War as well as Confederate forces during Reconstruction. After the war ended, Drake continued expanding its operations into other industries including aviation and chemical manufacturing before merging with Texaco in 1966 to becomeTexaco/Drake Petroleum Corporation. In 1984, Texaco/Drake Petroleum merged with E&P Oil & Gas Corporation to form ExxonMobil Corp.. In 1990, ExxonMobil divested itself of its oil business holdings within Mobil Oil Corporation (the parent company then known as Standard Oil) to create ExxonMobil plc., making it one of the largest independent oil companies in the world by market value.(1) Today, Watauga remains an agricultural community with a focus on cotton production; however, recent advancements have led to new industrial development such as information technology firms and fast food restaurants among others . As an educational center for area students; Watauga offers high school diploma through college degrees Programs including Agriculture Technician - First Class (ATC), Business Administration - Second Class (BA), Computer Science - Associate's degree (CS), Home Economics - Apprentice level classifications (HE). Additionally; there are also several postsecondary institutions that offer education such as Baylor University School Of Law & Human Resources Management; Sam Houston State University ; Southern Methodist University ; UT Arlington ; Rice University ; Appalachian State University .

Watauga was founded in 1871 by Scots-Irish settlers. The community grew up around Presbyterian churches and schools. Watauga became an incorporated municipality in 1903. In the 1930s, Watauga began to become a center for cotton production and agriculture due to its location on the lower Rio Grande River. Cotton growers such as Harry Hays and J.B. Ladd built large homes in Watauga during this time period. However, many of these residents left after the discovery of oil in Texas in 1938 led to a decline in traffic and manufacturing around Watauga until the late 1990s when it regained some prosperity thanks to oil development again
In 1836, Watauga County was created from portions of Sumner and Paulding Counties. The county seat was located at Athens. In 1848, the United States Congress created Cherokee County in western Tennessee to deal with the aftermath of the Mexican-American War. Watauga County followed suit in 1850.
