Many local businesses made donations towards this effort including Armour pharmaceuticals which donated $10,000 worth of medicines to help battle typhoid fever; Nueces Paper Company which donation allowed them to produce paper products needed for war effort; Pemberton Coffee Company which donated coffee beans for use in ammunition production; Baylor University which offered scholarships for soldiers who enlisted at their campus; and several other local businesses that contributed goods or services such as Humble Oil Refining Company which gave food stocks to Fort Worth residents during wartime shortages; Boots & Shoe Store located on Main Street provided clothing for troops stationed in the area; The Methodist Church also donated food parcels during the war years; Finally, many citizens helped with Rosie’s Shoes store on Second Street where they stored shoes delivered daily from Dallas by truckloads
