Gun barrels have a long and varied history in Waco, Texas. From the early 19th century until the late 20th century, gun barrels were used to store firearms and ammunition. In particular,gun barrels were used in local militias to protect rural areas from Indian raids. Gun Barrels also became popular among cattle ranchers for their ability to hold an ample supply of ammo while on roundup trips. Today, gun barrel manufacturers continue to produce barrels for various firearms including shotguns, rifles and handguns. The design and construction of a firearm barrel is an important part of the operation and safety of that firearm. There are many different types and sizes of barrels, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. A barrel's length is also important, as it determines how much ammunition can be used in a particular gun before it needs to be reloaded. A standard rifle or shotgun barrel typically has a bore diameter of .308 inches (7.62 mm), which is about twice the size of a human hair. The first guns in Waco were pistols. The area was settled by Texans in the early 1800s and soon there were guns being smuggled into the state from Mexico. In 1836, Texas Rangers began to be hired to fight Mexican bandits and in 1838, they started using cannons to shoot at them. This led to the development of artillery pieces which could shot further than handguns could and so rifles became popular. By 1846, Waco had a population of over 10,000 people and Colt began making firearms here. In 1860, Waco was annexed by Texan City and then by Austin on February 2nd of that year. It didn't become a city until 1907 when it annexed part of Plano
The town of Waco, Texas was founded in 1836 by the Texans and became an important center of early American culture. It was the scene of a horrific event that left more than 70 people dead, including many religious leaders and journalists. The siege of Waco began on April 20, 1993, when a group of right-wing militias invaded the small town to protest what they saw as government interference in their religious beliefs. The standoff ended with the surrender of the militants and the release of all those involved. In renaming its downtown square in honor of these victims, Waco offered a fitting apology for one of America's deadliest episodes.

When the first Europeans arrived in what is now Texas, they were met with hostility. The Native Americans did not want them here and there are evidence that food shortages led to violence and genocide of the Kiowa, Comanche, Apache and other tribes. In 1836, a group of Texans formed the Republic of Texas under the leadership of Antonio López de Santa Anna. Santa Anna decided to fortify himself at Palo Alto on an island in San Jacinto River when he heard about Mexican forces heading towards Austin. On Aug. 24, 1836, Texas's first battle took place when Santa Anna's force clashed with Mexican General Manuel Armijo's unit near Waco (now part of Austin). Santa Anna was killed in action and his army retreated. After Texan independence was declared, John Fayette Carr sent troops to quell any uprisings against Mexican rule. On Nov. 17, 1837, around 300 Texans confronted 1,500 Mexicans near present-day Waco after learning that some members of theMexican military had been involved in a massacre at Manorville (now Gonzales County). A bloody battle ensued that ended when Mexican militia opened fire on the Texans and ran into a nearby creek for cover; most of those killed or captured escaped injury or death. No one knows for sure how many people died during Waco but estimates range from 20–50%. In 1840, federal troops invaded Texas to suppress any further rebellions byTexans against Mexico; as a result, over 100 Texans were executed or jailed including future US president James Kagan Baylor who later wrote: "I am proud to have been associated with such atrocious crimes as hangings at [Waco]." The remains of some victims are still found today around town outskirts just off Loop 410A near Interstate 35E exit 203B
The Battle of Waco was fought on April 6, 1883, in Texas. The battle resulted in the death of 20 people and the wounding of 50 others.
