Vidor, TX (population: 22,000) is a city located in the U.S. state of Texas and is the county seat of Webb County. The city was founded in 1879 by George Fenton and named for him, Vidor Creek dating back to that time. Vidor was originally a small community on the banks of the Trinity River before it grew into an agricultural town with over 20 businesses in 1886 when it became part of the Hudspeth County, TX Geographic District. In 1907, Vidor became an incorporated municipality and later annexed by Austin, TX. Vidor's economy changed from agriculture to manufacturing after World War II when defense plants were established in the area including Lockheed-Martin Aeronautics Company which built their first factory there in 1949. In 1957, Vidor elected its first mayor and first female mayor Juana Hinojosa who served until her death in 1984.
