Vidor, Texas is a town located in Midland County, Texas. The population was 5,341 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan Statistical Area. Vidor was founded in 1892 by John M. Vidor and his brother Geo F. Vidor as a small farming community on the banks of the Trinity River. In 1924, Vidor became an incorporated municipality under the name of Midland Beach. In 1935, Midland Beach merged with nearby Arlington to form Vidor Village which continued to grow until it reached its present size in 1990 when it annexed neighboring Pecos Valley. In that year, Vidor also became home to the first high school attended by students from Dallas-Fort Worth area schools - Midland High School (now Arlington High School). The current downtown core of Vidor was built in two phases over several years beginning in 1984: Phase One involved demolition of most old buildings and construction of a new downtown mall with 300 retail space and 50 residential units; Phase Two included reconstruction of all remaining buildings within the original downtown mall including new streets and sidewalks, gutters/pipes/drainage systems, public plaza/parking lot expansion and addition of two blocks north along I-10 to provide more open space for businesses and residences. As one result of these efforts, VIDOR has seen significant growth since its incorporation as a municipality in 1934 - today's downtown core includes over 100 businesses with anchor stores such as Walmart and JCPenney occupying major locations inside or adjacent to both large shopping malls while smaller businesses have been built near bus stops providing easy access to Downtown Dallas or Fort Worth via Interstate 10

In 1905-1906 an experimental Oil Field was established at the present day site of Euless where crude oil would be extracted from shale formations. This event helped bring about growth in the local economy and contributed to the development of Vidor as an important center for oil production in North Central Texas. During World War II Vidor served as a military airfield used by American forces during the Battle of Bataan Peninsula campaign against Japanese forces. After war endedVIDOR experienced growth as a commercial center with new businesses being established such as: First National Bank (1896), Texaco Refining Company (1959), Southern Finance Corporation (1963) and many more including Pizza Hut Logistics Center which opened in 2008 adjacent to PGA Championship golf tournament venue - Ben Davis Golf Course
