Gun magazines have been around for a long time in Vidor, Texas. The first gun magazine was opened in 1892 and it was called the “Nagant Rifle Magazine”. It was located on Third Street in Vidor. There were no gun magazines in Vidor until 1921 when there was one opened by John Waddell. He started it at 1197 E Houston Ave. In 1924, he moved it to 5th Street and renamed it the “Waddell Gun Shop”. In 1951, the business changed hands and became known as the “Vidor Arms & Ammo Company”. It continued to be run by Mr. Waddell until his death in 1978. The current owner of the business is Msgr./Mrs Jerry Lunsford who started it in 1984 as the “Lunsford Gun Shop” The guns that are exhibited at the Lunsford GunShop are all made in-house by Mrs Jerry Lunsford and her team of craftsmen In 1985, Mrs Jerry Lunsford opened what is now known as the “Tommy Thompson Firearms Museum” within walking distance of her shop on Second Street This museum contains over 100 firearms from various periods including early American handguns through World War II . There are also displays about history of firearms and shooting sports

The first magazine to be printed in Vidor, Texas was the Globe-Gazette in 1881. The paper was destroyed in a fire, but the printing press and other equipment were salvaged and used to print another local newspaper called the Herald from 1882 to 1889. In 1899, an oil refinery was built near Vidor and began production of crude oil which necessitated the importation of large quantities of ammunition. That same year, Vidor became a city and United States Post Office moved into the old courthouse on Commerce Street. In 1903, an armory was erected by order of Mayor J.B. Hensley at what is now Ninth Street and Richardson Avenue. The post office continued to use the old building until 1958 when it moved to its present location on Elm Street adjacent to City Hall.

Vidor is the county seat of Hudspeth County and has a governmental structure similar to that of a municipality. It consists of a Mayor and Council which meets Annually on different dates throughout the year. Vidor also has an elected school board which meets every other month to discuss local issues and decide what new programs or projects should be put into place for the upcoming school year.

In 1871, the first law in the United States regulating magazine capacity was passed. This law limited magazines to five rounds. The following year, a second act regulated magazine capacity to 10 rounds. In 1875, an act bannedloading pistols with more than 9 rounds in each magazine.
Vidor was founded in 1881 by citizens of the cattle country of Texas. The town grew rapidly due to its location on the Cimarron River, and soon had a population of over 500. In 1907, Vidor became the capital of the new Mexican state of Chihuahua. As a result, Vidor lost its status as a bustling small town and began to decline in popularity. However, it continued to be an important economic center until the early 1930s when oil production increased in nearby Amarillo and other nearby towns. This led to Vidor's rapid growth again and its status as one of the most important cities in south-central Mexico. By 1940, however, Vidor had fallen back into obscurity and only boasted a population of around 50 people. Today, Vidor is still an important cultural center for south-central Mexico and has retained some importance within the local community despite its low ranking on national scales.
Vidor was founded in 1836 by John Vidor and his wife, Jane. The town rapidly grew as a trading post and shipping point on the Trinity River. In 1851, it became the county seat of Hudspeth County. In 1870, Vidor became a city and was renamed Austin in honor of President James K. Polk.
