The company continued producing ammunition until it ceased operations in 1957. In total, Victoria Manufactured nearly 2 million rounds of 7x57mmM ammunition between 1925 and 1957! Victoria, Texas is a city in Williamson County, Texas, United States. The population was 25,521 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Williamson County. The city is located on an elevated bluff above the Brazos River and it derives its name from Princess Victoria of England who was given the town in 1873 after her visit to that area. The original settlers were German immigrants who founded a sawmill and gristmill in what is now Victoria. In 1876, they built a post office and started trading with nearby Austin. By 1890, they had a school and two churches. A railroad arrived in 1897 and helped bring industry to Victoria which soon became known as the "Queen City". In 1916, construction began on the TX-10 freeway which connected Victoria with Houston and other parts of Texas. The town prospered until World War II when heavy industries closed down and new residents replaced the old ones. Afterward, Vic began to decline as many businesses closed or moved out while population growth slowed In recent years, however, Vic has begun to rebound due to its location within walking distance of both downtown Houston (largely thanks to Sam’s Club) as well as its growing diversity including several high-end restaurants/bars along main streets like University Drive Victoria also features several parks such as Medical Park North Park which contains one of America’s largest waterfalls As part of efforts by Mayor Sylvester Turner to revitalize Victoria over time there have been plans announced for major projects such as more housing development—possibly including TRUMP Trump Tower units—as well as renovation of downtown buildings
