The history of gun magazines in Vernon, Texas can be traced back to the early 1800s. One of the first firearm magazines in Vernon was the John Smeaton Rifle and Pistol Club, which was started in 1811. The club initially operated out of a building on Main Street. Another early organization that shared space with the John Smeaton Rifle and Pistol Club was the Vernon Volunteer Fire Department. The Vernon Volunteer Fire Department was founded in 1887. The first president of the Vernon Volunteer Fire Department was Prentice A. Woodruff. In 1912, the Vernon Rifle and Pistol Club changed its name to the Vernon Firearms Company. In 1916, Roy Jorgenson became president of the company. At that time, Roy Jorgenson also served as secretary-treasurer for the company. From 1916 until his death in 1951, Roy Jorgenson led the company into new territory by expanding its operations into ammunition sales and marketing as well as becoming one of America's leading firearms retailers singularly within arms dealing circles. During World War II, many residents of Vernon were drafted into military service and were required to provide their own weapons or buy them from local gun dealerships during peacetime periods when such purchases weren't allowed under government regulations at that time. As a result, many Gun Magazines were established within these households to store and carry weaponry while they awaited draft notices or orders arrived home from their unit stationed overseas.

The town quickly grew in popularity as a result of its lenient laws governing slavery and the thriving black community that developed around it. By 1907, Vernon had become the largest slave-free community in Texas and boasted a population of over 10,000 people. The town's prosperity continued until the end of World War II when it lost its exemption from prohibition laws following the repeal of slavery in Texas. Today, Vernon is an annual retreat spot for Republicans throughout Texas.

Vernon, Texas was founded in 1879 by Captain John C. Vernon and his family. The small town grew quickly due to its natural resources and its location on the river right near Fort Worth. In the early days of Vernon, many of the town's residents were farmers who raised cattle and hogs. By 1907, Vernon had a population of over 100 people and it began to grow rapidly thanks to its freightBelts Railroad which connected Vernon with Dallas and other nearby towns. The railroad also contributed to the growth of Vernon by providing an affordable way for people from outside of Vernon to get their goods into town. In 1922, the city of Arlington annexed Vernon making it a full municipality with its own police department and fire department. It wasn't until 1959 that Arlington added another school district which led to increased development in the area around Vernon High School which had been built in 1906 as a one-room schoolhouse. Over time, other businesses have come into existence such as a hospital (1948), a grocery store (1954), an auto dealership (1965), and more recently an office park (2006). Today, Vernon is still a small but vibrant community with active businesses that contribute greatly to its economy. It is home to many local services such as libraries, parks, schools, churches, breweries/wineries/acres of golf courses etc., making it one of the most livable communities in Texas!
In 1872, Vernon was founded by a group of Mormon settlers. The town grew rapidly due to the woolen industry and its location on the Texas-New Mexico border. In 1904, Vernon became an independent city. It experienced rapid growth in the early 21st century as a result of businesses related to oil and gas exploration and development.
