The first binoculars were developed in 1795 by Nicholas-Jacques Conte and his brother. They used a cloth lens and a magnifying glass to view things in detail. The first true binoculars were invented in 1827 by Guglielmo Marconi. They used an earthenware lens with a plastic tube to see clearly through the water. In 1892, John James Audubon designed and patented the first practical binocular. He used a metal frame with a round hole on one end to house the eyepiece and he made them for use by hunters looking for game. By 1912, there were over 100 different types of binoculars being manufactured. By 1933, only 8 remained in production!

Vernon is a small town located in Hudspeth County, Texas. The population was 2,711 at the 2010 census. Vernon is named after General James K. Polk who served as President of the United States from 1845 to 1849. Vernon was established in 1865 by pioneers led by Captain Wm. Hance and Mr. Jeter. Vernon had its first post office in 1868 and was incorporated as an independent municipality in 1888. In 1907, it became part of the new Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area and has since grown into one of the largest rural communities in Texas with a population of over 20,000 people today. The early settlers of Vernon were farmers who cultivated corn, wheat, cotton, soybeans, onions and other vegetables on their own land or sharedcropped with others near them. By 1865, there were already several stores and businesses in town; but it wasn't until 1888 that Vernon had its first post office which functioned until 1914 when it moved to its current location at 6th Street & Old Muleshoe Road (now Wilson Drive). The incorporation of Vernon followed a process known as “town meeting” where residents determined how their community should be run without any form of elected leadership or board members; instead all citizens were required to attend these meetings to voice their opinions on local issues such as taxes or services needed for the community including school district infrastructure development/funding etc.. There were also occasional field trips taken to nearby jurisdictions such as Bastrop for school purposes or trade shows held at local hotels during agricultural fairs throughout the year… As time went on some new businesses began opening up like The Gilded Cage restaurant which opened up on SE Sixth St., later becoming home to many popular locally owned restaurants throughout Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex during this era (including Chili’s®, Grilled Cheese®, Dairy Queen®). Vernon experienced rapid growth during World War II thanks largely to its strategic location within Interstate 10 minutes away from Dallas-Fort Worth Airport which facilitated both military housing developments and heavy manufacturing operations across Southwest Texas shortageszoning war materials statewide so munitions could be shipped directly into Texarkana through Dewey Bridge Junction then transported by rail down I-10 westward enroute back eastward across South Plains Pass via Wimberley Tunnel before finally reaching Vernon proper… This rapid economic growth continued well into the 21st century with various large industrial projects ongoing such as Marshall plants operated by Lockheed Martin Missile Co., UTI Poultry plant operated by Tyson Foods Incorporated (later JBS Meats), Kerridge Homes constructed adjacent to UTI poultry facility producing muchneeded housing for locals displaced during Hurricane Katrina – among numerous other major employers that have called Vernon home over the years including NEXUS energy company [now TXE Energy], Dell Computers now Microsoft Corp., Verizon Wireless having their headquarters located just east of HWY 69 exit 161A off IH 35W between Baylor Rd./SR 620/TX 360W & US 287W…. Today Vernon remains an economically vibrant community committed to providing quality public education along with comprehensive municipal services essential for a thriving society…..

During World War I, Vernon supported American troops by manufacturing munitions from small quantities of materials that were produced within their borders. In 1925, VernorTexas State University was founded as one of several colleges established within the new state of Texas pursuant to provisions of the Morrill Act (32 U.S.C., Chapter 38). At first focused on agriculture, State university soon became one of Texass most important institutions with a strong emphasis on Technology and Business Administration programs which have made it one of America's preeminent universities today
