Additionally, during prohibition years (1920-1932), Blackman's Opticalstore served as a source for Prohibition-era alcohol sales in Uvalde.

Uvalde is a city in Webb County, Texas, United States. The population was 4,912 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area. That annexation created one of the most protracted lawsuits in history when residents sued to keep their communities separate because they believed that their rights as citizens were being violated by incorporation into Uvalde while they continued to enjoy those same services under their own names and without payouts from the city government. On July 14, 2009, after more than two years of legal wrangling and several public hearings, voters overwhelmingly passed an ordinance annexing East Pleasanton back into Uvaldi Township through a vote of 97% against 1% for annexation! This decision reversed a previous unanimous decision made by City Council members not to annex East Pleasanton despite strong objections from many residents who saw this action as another case of corporate control over their lives
