Uvalde is a small town in Texas, located about 30 miles northwest of Dallas. The community was founded in 1871 by Scots-Irish immigrants, and has been home to gunmakers and sellers for over 120 years. Today, the industry is still strong in Uvalde with a wide variety of firearms products available from local dealers. One of the earliest guns made in Uvalde was the .22 Long Rifle. This rifle was designed by George Prentice and sold by Prentice & Sons Ammunition Company in 1917. The company later became Brownells Firearms Corporation. In 1922, Brownells began producing the pump-action revolver, which continues to be produced today. In 1938, two handguns were introduced that would become significant in Uvalde's history: the Colt Python and Ruger 10/22 pistols. These pistols were designed by Richard Haggerty and brothers Bob and Rick Haggerty as an improvement on earlier designs. The Python was eventually adopted as the town's police service weapon while the 10/22 served as its standard issue handgun until it was replaced by the Glock 17 after studies revealed that it had superior accuracy to other models available at that time

Uvalde, Texas is a city located in Starr County, Texas, United States. The population was 14,811 at the 2010 census. Uvalde is the county seat of Starr County and home to Uvalde High School. The town began as a mission founded by Father José de Jesús Chávez in 1836 on the banks of the Nueces River. The mission was abandoned in 1839 because of Indian attacks. In 1845, Austin's first post office opened in Uvalde after Mexican traders brought mail from San Antonio through the area. In 1861, General Sam Houston built his headquarters at what is now called Post Office Hill in Uvalde and named it for himself, hoping to curry favor with Mexico City by showing support for Houston's cause during the American Civil War. On July 3 of that year (1861), Texas Rangers under Lt. Govrist Peña attacked Mexican troops camped outside of town and destroyed much property before driving them off into the hills northwest of town. After Mexico set up its own government in November 1861 with Santa Anna as president, Houston resumed hostilities against Mexico and Post Office Hill became an important Confederate military stronghold during the Texan–Mexican War (1865-1867). In 1865 President Andrew Johnson ordered General James Fenton to retake Post Office Hill from Confederate forces under Gen detriment Hood without any bloodshed or quarter given to either side; however after days of vigorous fighting Fenton withdrew without taking any prisoners or causalities due to severe casualties sustained by both sides throughout what turned out to be one costly victory for Union forces over Confederate forces only weeks after their formal entry into Texas as part of Reconstruction following America's Emancipation Proclamation six years earlier! This event which local historian Clifford Berry has referred to as "one small skirmish" lead directlyto eventual annexation by Kansas following secession from California on November 16th 1862 resulting in renamed Starr County being placed within newly formed Dallas County! Today nearly all businesses are tourist oriented resort type places catering primarily to those seeking relaxation rather then anything more complex than that offered within such boundaries! One should bear this reality mind when considering visits here especially if looking for primary sources about life back then!!!!

Uvalde has been a center of trade and commerce since its establishment as a community on the banks of the Rio Grande in 1872. In 1914, Uvalde was named one of thirty-eight American cities to be designated by then President Woodrow Wilson as part of his New Deal urban renewal program. The current name for the city was given in honor of General Sam Houston by then Mayor Harry Wasylyk in 1938. Houston had visited Uvalde during his presidential campaign and decided that it would make a good location for his new air force base that he had started construction on in nearby League City. The General donated land to the city and set up business activities there such as lumbering, cotton ginning, and other agricultural pursuits. In 1912, work began on building what would become Memorial Stadium which eventually served as home field for local high school football (now A&M University) teams until it was destroyed in an explosion in 1984 which killed twenty-four people and injured more than hundred others. The stadium's replacement—University Park—was completed just east of where it once stood less than two years later when Track & Field Hall became available on property adjacent to Baylor University’s Main Campus across from Memorial Stadium and across from Rice Stadium both now used by NCAA Division I baseball (the Rangers play their home games at Globe Life Park). In 1969–70 Congressman Floyd Alexander pushed through legislation establishing downtown development rules followed throughout much of Texas due to concerns about redevelopment practices elsewhere within San Antonio County without corresponding input or oversight from downtown residents or elected officials—a situation which continued into the 21st century with some areas seeing rapid gentrification while others saw little or no improvement despite repeated calls for change culminating with passage of Proposition 1B in November 2016 which will see all but two blocks near UTSA’s main campus become public parklands managed by TXA under a new stewardship agreement between TXA and nonprofit organization UTSA Parks & Recreation
In 1836, Uvalde was founded on the banks of the Colorado River. It became a stop on the Santa Fe Trail and quickly developed into a town with a population of around 300 people. The town was named after General Manuel Armijo, who helped to drive down the Mexican army from Mexico in 1825. In 1907, Uvalde was annexed by Austin and became its second city. In 1966, it was renamed Austin – then again in 1998 toAustin-Brazos County after being moved from Brazoria County.
