These new firearms were not well received by the local residents, so they began to import English-style rifles. The pistols that were brought over soon became popular among farmers and ranch hands, and soon there was a demand for these guns in Uvalde. In 1907, a gunsmith named John Haggerty opened up his shop in central Uvalde and started manufacturing airguns. At this time, airguns were still considered novelty items and were not widely used by civilians. However, this did not stop Haggerty from making great products and he continued to produce airguns until 1951.

In 1840 Uvalde became part of Galveston County when it was organized from parts of Brown and Tarrant counties. In 1845 it became a municipality under Austin ISD leadership with Josefina Gomez as its first mayor. On November 1st 1903 Mayor John Waddell declared annexation for Uvalde into El Paso County due to population growth in that vicinity caused by oil drilling operations adjacent to downtown Uvalde and other cities within El Paso County such as New Braunfels and Lubbock (now Odessa). The annexation process took three years with many challenges including land purchases from surrounding municipalities; however, on February 26th 1905 incorporation finally became official when Judge James Murchison granted deeds to all omitted municipalities providing for their incorporation into one city or town if they applied timely and complied with all required requirements including paying special assessments and contributing $1 per capita towards city expenses until 1907 when this requirement was eliminated altogether due to budget constraints resulting from oil depletion along much of the Llano River Valley) On July 15th 1912 citizens of Lubbock formed a new town called Midland which occupies most of current Midland Boulevard between I-10 West & US 281 North/East while portions extending eastward down Main Street between I-10 & US 281North remain within Uvaldi boundaries

On May 20th 1993 Exxon Valdez collided with a tanker off shore killing 11 people including Captain Mike Mullen USN & 3 crewmen from Exxon Valdez while en route from Prince Rupert harbor Alaska bound for Japan; this event caused public outcry throughout North America over air travel safety issues following what had become known asthe Treadway Crash which also led to increased regulation of airline traffic within North America This resulted in William Donohue being named Chairman/CEO replacing Roger Wicker effective March 9th 1994 until his retirement on November 30th 1998 after serving 26 years with ChevronCorp; during his tenure Donohue developed ChevronCoastalGas Pipelines Project which would span 7 miles long under water adjacent to Corpus Christi Bay creating 500 jobs . All told Donohue managed some $40 billion dollars worth of assets through Chevron Corp during his career making him one of CorporateAmerica's most successful managers
