The University Park Shooting Target Holder Association was founded in 1978. The group is currently made up of shooters from around the area, as well as individuals who are interested in shooting targets.
University Park is a city in Dallas County, Texas, United States. The population was 382 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. University Park is one of the fastest-growing cities in Texas and has seen an increase inemployment levels as well as housing prices. The city began as a small farming community on the edge of what is now University Park Drive. A post office was established in 1878, and by 1892 there were ten families living in University Park. A school opened in 1893, and by 1907 there were twenty-five students attending classes on a small farmstead called "Morningside". In 1916, US President Woodrow Wilson visited University Park and pronounced it "a great place for education" because its location made it easy to get to downtown Dallas for meetings with government leaders. The town grew rapidly after World War II when businesses started opening up around Army Air Forces Base Mather which stood just east of town on Elmhurst Road near Cedar Hill Rd.. In 1949,University Park had a population of over 1,000 people; today it has only 350 residents. However, the growth didn't stop there: another business park called Elmhurst added to the mix (itself followed later by Northpark) while still more homes popped up throughout the years – making University Park one of America's fastest-growing cities
