With annexation came increased wealth for both sides resulting in some new development such as Hobby Lobby plaza across I-10 from Uptown Houston mall Phase II being developed into luxury housing called “The Villages” while other areas such as Research Triangle park have seen mixed use developments such as office towers or residential apartments taking their place. In recent years there has been significant redevelopment around Stadium Drive near I-10 exit 97A near Rice Lake with many high end restaurants opening up along with CenturyLink Field stadium plans progressing Forward but no final decisions have been made yet about when or how it will happen
