Houston College moved to its current site on Donwood Drive in 1903 when it became State Teachers' School #1 (now UTSA). On February 14, 1907,[5] during a meeting of the Board of Regents convened at Houston Colleege to consider changes to quadrennial funding formulas, Mayor James Crain proposed that UTSA be merged with Houston Colleege so that both schools could offer undergraduate coursesmetres away from downtownHouston without having their doors open to Students Who Could not Attend Regular Classes There due To Prohibition In Our City! This motion was seconded by Regent Leland Stanford who said "It seems only fair That We should have these two great institutions sharing similar resources." As a result of this proposal,UTSA becameHouston Colleece on April 1st 1907 with all student buildings located on today's Brazos Campus instead of downtownHouston where they were then located![6] That same year saw the opening of Rice Stadium which currently stand as one of home fields for both Baylor Bears football and American Football League (AFL) side Dallas Cowboys organization; together they form one large stadium complex known commonly collectively as The Lone Star Dome!.
