From 1912 until 1966 it was known as Texarkana Municipal District No. 2 because it included most of present-day Wichita Falls in northeast TX before that district was dissolved in that year into Wichita Falls Independent School District No. 1 and Dallas Independent School District No." In 1969 Texarkana Municipal District No 2 merged with Wichita Falls Municipal District No 1 to formTexarkana Independent School District #1 which continues today to serve all students in our towns namesake schools - UTEP & Baylor University campuses only
