These devices consisted of two or three large poles with a crossbar at one end and a small loop at the other. In 1914, Universal City installed its first electronic target system- which used five electric lights to create realistic targets that could be shot from any distance without taking aim. Universal City is a city in County of San Antonio, Texas, United States. The population was estimated at 100,792 as of the 2010 census. It is the tenth largest city in Texas and the second-largest in the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. The name "Universal City" originated from its location on an open prairie where goods could be traded between settlers and Native Americans without being checked for contraband or outlawed by law enforcement. The first permanent European settlement in what is now Universal City was located on an opposite side of the Trinity River across from what is now downtown San Antonio (the site of today's UTSA campus). In 1788, Spanish colonists founded San Antonio de Bexar de la Concepción after Mexican General José de Justicia surrendered his army at Guadalupe Bridge to American forces under George Washington. Spanish traders and entrepreneurs began trading with Indian tribes upriver from Mission Santa Anna and soon realized that this land would offer many opportunities for goldmining if it were explored well enough. In 1836, John O'Brien became one of America's first territorial governors when he succeeded Sam Houston as governor of Texas following Houston's exile to Mexico. O'Brien decided to explore this new land and named it after King George III of Great Britain in honor of his support for independence during the Mexican-American War (1848-1849). On October 12, 1836, US diplomat Daniel Webster delivered a speech recognizing Texas as an independent republic within the United States even though Mexico had not given up its claim to that territory yet. The choice to name Universal City after King George III was made because it would provide an easy way for people who wanted to trade goods between Texans living near San Antonio and those living further east or west in what is now Oklahoma Territory - all without having their products tested for contraband or outlawed by law enforcement officials! In 1840, Captain James Fenton erected a log cabin at corner of Elm Street & Broadway which served as our first post office until moved to its present location two years later when US Marshal John Strother opened our first courthouse which still stands today on Main Street just north of I-10 exit 10A (just southwest of UTSA Campus). In 1851, construction began on Our Lady Of Guadalupe church which served as our first schoolhouse; classes started on September 1st, 1850. By 1860 there were over 150 businesses operating out OFC including several banks providing banking services only accessible through OFC! A year later another large building block was erected – Stover Hotel which housed several restaurants including Cactus Café serving norteño cuisine until 1959 when it closed down due to lackadaisical management! In 1872 Charles Goodyear established Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company here locally becoming one of America’s most successful companies ever! He also funded much important infrastructure such as SANTA ANA RIVER TELEPHONE LINE (now TXU) which linked San Antonio with Austin then Dallas then Chicago before terminating back intoSan Antonio again prioritizing safety over speed while connecting more than 100 miles inland each day! Today both UTSA campuses are within walking distanceof Goodyear’s original rubber company headquarters located off Loop 410 east side mainline exits 6 & 7A just outside Loop 610/I-10 exit 9A!! This once booming industry has slowly but surely declined but doesn't forget about how much fun we can have trying out their latest product line roadside or outdoors while White Sands Missile Range offers some pretty impressive views too!!!

In 2013 it was announced that ExxonMobil had sold their controlling interest in the property back to local developers who are now looking into using it as a greenfield development for housing and retail uses adjacent to Interstate 10/US 281/exact address not yet known. Today Universal City is home to many large corporations such as Mastercard, McDonald's Corporation and PepsiCo while smaller businesses abound with more than 20 stores open within easy walking distance or bike ride away from all major shopping areas in downtown Austin or Midtown Dallas
The city of Universal City was founded on October 14, 1881 by George W. Smith and James P. Moran. The two men came up with the name for the new town based on the biblical city of Jerusalem. They named it after themselves, which is also the name of their ranch in Texas where they settled down to start a new life. In 1915, Universal City became part of Dallas County and in 1923 it became a municipal borough in Dallas. On December 2, 1960, Universal City was annexed by Dallas as part of its annexation into the city limits.
