Universal City, Texas is a town located in the US state of Texas. The population was 5,895 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat for Hudspeth County. Universal City was founded in 1871 by Capt. These developments led Mayor Sylvester Turner to call for annexation by Dallas County because he believed this would provide even more shopping opportunities within walking distance for residents outside the core Loop district . Today, Universal City is largely defunct and its buildings are mostly preserved as historical landmarks or tourist attractions.
