Tyler, Texas is a city located in the U.S. state of Texas. The city was founded on October 25, 1876 by Scots-Irish settlers from County Tyrone. Tyler became an incorporated municipality on December 15, 1907. On July 1, 1954, the city was reincorporated as Tyler with a population of about 60,000 people. It has since grown to over 150,000 residents and is one of the most rapidly growing cities in the country. This may be due to high levels of communication within these communities or it could simply reflect that crime rates are lower in smaller towns where there is more personal security consciousness

Tyler, Texas is a small town in the United States located in Comanche County. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. Tyler was founded on July 6, 1872 by citizens of Wichita, Kansas as the townsite of Tyler and New Tyler. A post office called Tyler was established in 1875, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. The first settlers to arrive in what is now Tyler were cowboys who came from Chappell City, Oklahoma Territory. They arrived on horseback and drove their herds of cattle overland to new homesteads that they constructed near present-day downtown Tyler. The town's first store opened its doors on October 15, 1876. In 1902, a group of farmers from Willacy County bought land around present-day downtownTyler for $2 per acre (a total value of $27,000). They named their new community Earlewood after General Nelson Agedon Earls USMC (1836-1920), Commandant of Camp Bowie during the Mexican–American War (1846-48). The original town plat included a central square surrounded by four side streets: Main Street east to west; Second Street north to south; Fourth Street west to east. During World War I (1914-1918), Earlewood served as an airbase for fighter planes flown by the Third Air Force based out of Fort Worth Army Air Base northwest of downtown Tyler. In 1919, the war ended and Earlewood reverted back to its original name: Tyler. On December 1st 1920 President James Fenton signed legislation creating Comanche County - one of several counties carved out of Texas following Texas' admission into the Union on November 8th that year. The county seat became Lubbock when Lubbock County was created from parts of Haskell County on January 14th 1921 pursuant to Act 254 Of 1923 . Earlwood continued serving as county seat until 1935 when Lubbock became the state capital city under then newly minted State Constitution Section 521 which required all executive decisions made by government officials within Travis County be made also within Travis County unless otherwise authorized by law or gubernatorial Executive Order Number XII issued December 3rd 1935 . With no county seat left within Travis County other than Austin proper ( later renamed TX Capitol city) Earlewood voters approved a referendum asking for annexation by Austin effective November 13th 1937 resulting in incorporation into Austin proper with legal effect on that date . In 1940 residents petitioned Governor Ross Perot for congressional representation outside Dallas/Fort Worth due to concerns about local war production being outsourced through Dallas/Fort Worth contracts with North American Aviation Company Limited which operated outvarious plants throughout East Texas manufacturing aircraft including B-17 Flying Fortress bombers used against Pearl Harbor In 1941 after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor and America entered World War II ,Texas Congressman Perot moved his family fromDallas/Fort Worth back home to San Angelo where he had been living since 1936
