Tomball, Texas is a city in the County of Tomball, within the United States. The population was 3,4695 at the 2010 census. It is home to Toyota's main plant for manufacturing Tacoma and Camry cars. The city is also one of the gateway cities into Houston. Tomball is a small town in central Texas, located about 25 miles (40 kilometers) east of Dallas and 20 miles (32 kilometers) west of Austin. The population was 28,871 at the 2010 census. Tomball is part of theDallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. Tomball was founded in 1879 by George Ladd and his family as a trading post on an old cattle drive from Midland to Wichita Falls. The Post Office was first opened in 1881. A school district was organized in 1903, and a movie theater opened in 1925. In 1935, Tomball became the site of the world's first air show when military jets from Texas Air National Guard Base arrived for a parade demonstration. Today, Tomball is home to several museums including the Tomball Museum of Art and History, which features American Indian artifacts; the Tinker Museum of Art & History; and Joe Esposito Park containing a replica of an original U2 airplane hangar that served as headquarters for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft during the early years of its aviation industry career. The town has also been HOME to several professional teams over the years such as the Houston Oilers (the team played its last game on November 4th 2011), University Of Texas Longhorns football teams (1937-1964), US Lacrosse Team (1974-1981) and most recently, FC Tomball United Soccer League side which played their inaugural season in 2017

Mount Pleasant Creek flows through downtown Tomball and forms its eastern boundary with Center City Park to the eastward. The creekbed forms much of its southern boundary with Northwest Branch Airport to the southwestward Tomlinson Land Act Historic District
