Tomball is a small town in west Texas, located within the Tomball Independent School District. The population was 5,564 at the 2010 census. In 1937, two local businessmen, Harry Hays and Rufus Epps began selling telescope equipment from their home on FM 925 east of town. Over time they became known as the " founders of Tomball Telescope & Camera Company ". Their telescopes were used by locals and visitors alike to view natural disasters such as hurricanes and floods that occurred during World War II. In 1957, after more than fifty years in business, the company changed its name to The Tomballd Telescopes Co., Incorporated (TTCCI). In 1976, TTCCI began production of an inferior version of what is now considered to be the best type of astronomical telescope called a "trucker" or " Picatinny tube". This telescope was designed specifically for use with binoculars and quickly gained popularity due to its ease of use and affordability compared to other types of telescopes available at that time. After only five months in production, the product had sold out! Today there are several locations throughout Texas where you can purchase these telescopes including Dallas-Fort Worth; Houston; Austin; San Antonio; Mission Viejo CA; Elk Grove Village IL; Chico CA; Ocala FL; Mount Pleasant SC ; Nantucket MA ; Westborough MA (the last location being located inside IMAX Dome). That same year saw the opening of First Baptist Church which became an important economic engine for the community during its early years. By 1919, there were 11 businesses and 200 residents in Tomball when it incorporated as a city under the name of Tomball City Limits Incorporated. In that year also saw construction begin on what would become known as downtown square which would house many of the town's current buildings including Post Office Square & Community Hall; Pogue Building; Federal Savings Bank Building; Masonic Temple & Conference Center; Lewis Hotel; American Legion Hall; Texas School Book Depository Building; Park Plaza Shopping Center & IHOP restaurant - among others During World War II, Tomballs contribution to our country was conspicuous by its absence with only 3 men serving in active duty within our military detachment stationed locally- one being Pvt Behrend Arbuckle who took up arms against Japan while attending school here

Tomball was founded by James Hinson in 1876. The post office was established in 1877 and named for Tomball Creek. The community began as a farming village on the banks of Tomball Creek. A Methodist Episcopal church was built there in 1879 and dedicated by Bishop James Ewing of Austin. In 1886, a cotton gin and oil refinery were built near the village; it remained in use until 1971 when it closed due to pollution problems. In 1915, Tomball became an unincorporated community when its residents seceded from Potter County to form independent Cochran County. The town's lone store opened in 1916 and continued operation until it closed within three years; however, local merchants maintained contact with each other through mail order until their closure around 1970s also). After World War II ended, many young men enlisted or left for service in the Korean War before returning home- many of whom settled down within the boundaries of Tomball after their return (the last post office closed on February 15th 1975). In 1984, local citizens boycottned organized county fairs because they felt that government spending had not kept up with inflation since 1972; this boycott led to increased growth for the community over time as more people found themselves interested in participating politically outside of their individual townships or counties. Today, the economy relies heavily upon agriculture and ranching operations along with services such as healthcare and retail businesses related to technology companies like Apple Inc., Microsoft Corp., Dell Inc., HPE Hewlett Packard Co.), telecommunications companies such as AT&T Inc., Comcast Corporation (), Time Warner Cable Company (), Google LLC.), petrochemical companies ( Texaco Inc.), metalurgical companies ( Carrier Corporation), engineering services (US Steel Ltd.) - all situated near Interstate 35W which connects Atlanta with Dallas/Fort Worth Airport - making Tomball one of fastest growing communities on earth according to Forbes magazine.

In 1849, Tomball became part of the newly formed Republic of Texas. In 1856, Tomball incorporated as a city. The city experienced dramatic growth during the late 19th century due to its location at the crossroads of two major railroads: The Texas Central Railroad and The Houston & San Antonio Railway. By 1906, Tomball had become one of the most populous cities in Texas with over 80,000 residents. During World War I, Tomballl served as an airfield for Major General Douglas MacArthur's forces during their invasion of Mexico City. After World War I ended, Tomballs economy grew rapidly thanks to new industry and investment from outside investors such as Texaco Incorporated and Gulf Oil Corporation. However, by 1930s economic conditions had deteriorated and population growth slowed markedly; when Prohibition began in 1933, many businesses closed or vanished altogether due to prohibition-related taxes
