The Colony, Texas was founded in 1847 by planters who were looking for a new place to settle. The area at the time was very sparsely populated and the settlers were forced to find ways to get light into their homes. Located on what is now known as Coleman Road, The Colony grew quickly due to its strategic location for transportation and its access to water resources needed for cotton production. By 1907, after years of development, The Colony had a blacksmith shop, grocery store/barbecue restaurant/apothecary (later renamed Circle K), Masonic lodge (later called Brown Chapel), two churches (one Methodist and one Baptist), two schoolhouses (grades 1-8) and over 50 residences – many of which still stand today! Coleman's dream for The Colony began with his belief that white Texans would recognize their opportunity to build an excellent example of American civilization in rural areas where they could work together to create productivity and wealth for all! This vision became reality through both business acumen and hard work – even during difficult times such as World War I when most Americans did not have access to technology or marketing skills necessary for success! Today's residents are descendants of those who originally moved here more than 120 years ago; some families have lived in The Colony continuously since itWas founded!

Lee from Richmond following his series of strategic defeats at Bull Run Bridge and Manassas Junction, many Colonies chose not to evacuate their properties but instead opted for guerrilla warfare against Union forces until 1865 when they finally surrendered. Over time much attention has been paid to The Colony because it served as an important center for cotton production in both Texas and nationally; however little is known about its early history or how it came to be located on Jaxson Fork of Brazos River. However, the colony failed to achieve any significant economic success, and within a few years it had decayed into obscurity. In 1839, however, Spanish settlers in Texas began to arrive, and soon the Colony became an important center of Spanish culture in what is now Texas.
