Texas City is a small city in the U.S. state of Texas, located on the west bank of the Trinity River. As of the 2010 census, its population was 9,715. It is the county seat and largest city within Hudspeth County, which includes Austin and many other large metropolitan areas. The name "Texas City" was given to it by investors who wanted to nickname their new town after one of their favorite American presidents—Ulysses S. Grant— since he had been governor of Missouri during much of the early 1900s when Texas City was founded. The original town site lay on what is now Temple Street between Seventh and Eighth Streets in downtown Austin, less than a mile from Fort Sam Houston Museum and Tower Park where Grant gave his famous speech welcoming American settlers to Texas in 1846. The townsite that became Texans City grew up around two cotton plantations owned by JnoWm Brouncker and James Wernham Haskell respectively; both men were prominent figures in early Austin society. In 1872, Haskell donated land near what is now Main Street for a new town center with shops, hotels, churches, post office and other public building capabilities; this area would later become home to many high-profile businesses including Dell Inc., Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada Inc., Home Depot Co., AT&T Corporation (now Time Warner) as well as thousands more residential units over time. At first glance, little has changed about Texan City since its establishment: It retains all its historic architecture from when it was just an agricultural community dotted with hickory trees and limekilns; streets are named for local agricultural leaders such as Hurd Prentice or Wiley Rector; courthouse square still features fine examples of Second Empire architecture dating back to the 1880s However despite its rural feel Texan City has seen an explosion in development over recent decades: More than 2 million people have moved into the city since 2000 alone making it one of America's fastest-growing major cities – faster even than San Francisco or New York City! This growth has come at a cost though: A significant portion of TexanCity's infrastructure – such as roads, water systems and schools – have not kept up with changing times or mitigated against damage caused by Sasquatch Creek floods or Hurricane Rita (2005). These days most residents live close enough to work that they seldom need leave their busy cities confines but there remains long term concern about howTexanCity will cope with continued rapid growth without proper investment into infrastructure maintenance/updates

Today, gunswitches remain an important part of military arsenals and are often used in law enforcement operations as well. They are also being utilized more frequently by civilians due to their popularity among shooters and hunters alike.

In 1876, the town of Texas City was established on the Brazos River. It was named for General Stephen Austin, who had fought in the Mexican-American War. The town grew quickly, and by 1888 it had a population of 1,500 people. In 1912, Texas City became a city under state law. In 1955, the community was renamed Dallas.
The Texas City community was founded in 1881 when the Harris County Land Appraiser, John A. Richardson, surveyed and divided tracts of land near present-day downtown Houston. The first store opened in what is now the Texas City Mall in 1895. In 1907, the city was annexed by Houston and renamed after its largest city namesake, Texas City. In 1950, the city merged with neighboring Sugarland to form a single municipality known as Sugarland-Houston. The merger created a new government that was more centralized than either of its predecessors and it remain an independent municipality until it merged into Houston in 1993. Since then, the city has experienced significant growth as a bedroom and commercial center for Greater Houston area and has become one of the fastest-growing cities in Texas. It currently has over 40,000 residents and is home to several major medical facilities including Memorial Hermann Hospital and Methodist Medical Center as well as many high-end shopping malls such as River Oaks Shopping Center and Sports Authority Fieldhouse.
