On October 21st of 1921, President Warren G Harding signed legislation creating Houston Armorers Association No 2191 which stated: “ Any citizen who wishes to own or possess a rifle or shotgun may do so free from any municipal registration requirements” . On January 1st 1922, membership increased to 350 men with rifles/shotguns being added to the list! From 1922 until 1949 there were no municipal regulations against owning guns except for hunting licenses which required proof of hunt experience; however after 1949 all guns must be registered with the state before being possessed! This is also when Texans City became home to its very own armory where handguns could be stored securely until needed! On February 20th 1951, Mayor Humble presented Grange Farms with a gift certificate entitling them(theArmories)to sell handguns through NRA member sales channels only! This event marked one thousand nine hundred fifty years since Grange Farms had donated their land for an armory!!!
