Texarkana is a town in Schleicher County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,715 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. The first people to arrive in what is now Texarkana were Creek Indians. A post office called Texarkana was established in 1876, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. They succeeded in saving most of the district's architecture and shops while developing only one wing of the mall which remains standing today as the old Courthouse Square Historic District (now known as First Baptist Church Place).
