As of 2015, over 60% of all employed employees are Latino or Hispanic with no Asian representation. A large number of businesses are anchored around agricultural activities such as cattle ranching and fertilizer manufacturing; however small business owners continue to face challenges unique to this community type throughout much of Texas' Great Plains region. At present there is significant effort being made within both government and non-government sectors to revitalize downtown Texarkana through redevelopment/renewal projects consistent with changing trends across Kansas City Missouri Valley TX - similar strategies have worked successfully for other once struggling downtowns including Omaha Nebraska & Wichita KS

Texarkana, Texas is a small, rural town located in the U.S. state of Texas. It was founded in 1879 by John Fayette Battle and named for Texarkana, Arkansas. In 1907, it became the county seat of Johnson County and has since been known as the business and cultural center of that county. The economy of Texarkana is based on agriculture and ranching; however, recent changes include the growth of manufacturing and services. The population was 12,471 at the 2010 census.
Texarkana is a city in Marshall County, Texas, United States. The population was 5,821 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Marshall County and one of its original townships. The first settler in what would become Texarkana was John Hancey in 1874. The town was named for General James Fannin who fought against Mexican forces in the Texas Revolution. In 1907, Texarkana became one of the "Big Four" cities which were home to most of the oil production in West Texas during that time period. In 1929, when Oklahoma became a state, Texarkana lost its status as a Big Four city and it has since been primarily an agricultural center. Texarkana was founded by local ranchers on August 11, 1881 as a small trading post called Fort Worth Jct., three miles (5 km) east of present-day Texarkana. The post served as both a market for goods from settlers downriver and as a place where travelers could find shelter from American Indians who were raiding their land upriver. On October 1, 1881, Fort Worth Jct., renamed Texarkana due to popular demand by settlers and soldiers visiting the new post for supplies or militia duty, became the permanent capital of Marshall County after being voted into existence by voters on November 3rd near present day Marshallsville. On December 4th Marshal commissioners erectedthe first courthouse within Texarkana limits – an adobe building now known as “Old Courthouse #1” (). A second courthouse – also adobe – was built in 1907 on State Highway 137 about five miles (8 km) north-northwest of current day Texarkane; this building is now known as “New Courthouse #2” (). By 1910 there were also two churches withinTexarkana Limits: First Baptist Church located just northeast of downtown (now Old Courthouse #1), while Second Baptist Church had been built just south of town off US Highway 83 southwest of present day Depot Road (now TX Route 281). At this time only four businesses existed withinTexARKANAlimits: Two grocery stores operated by James Wills & Sonson opposite Railroad Station Square; Howard Gorman's hardware store located east side Main Street between Railroad Avenue and Riverview Drive; Denny's restaurant located west side Main Street between Railroad Avenue and Creekview Drive; and Jimmie Daniels' barbershop/saloon across from Market Square southwest of Depot Road today known as “The LoneStar Saloon” (). In 1915 another grocery store opened up along US Highway 83 southeast near present day FM 529known locally simply as “Granite Grocery Store” (). Most business activity ceased around 1930 when oil production began to decline throughout West Texas due to global economic recession statewide As production shifted away from oil to other commodities such as natural gas and cotton various businesses reopened throughout the 1940s through 1960s but none have currently continued operation since that time period
