In the early 1900s, Terrell was a small town in rural Texas. It wasn't until 1915 that Terrell erected its first school, and by 1917, it had a post office. The town's first light show took place on January 1, 1918. At that time, the town only had two streetlights and one porch light. The first metal optical accessory was produced in 1922 when an inventor named H.J. Smith developed a metal magnifying glass called the "Owl" (pictured). The magnifying glass was designed to be used with conventional eyeglasses to improve vision for people who could not see well enough with their bare eyes. In 1924, another inventor named Burton Slagle came up with the "Tower". The tower consisted of three lenses that were connected to a base. When you rotated the lens assemblies around your head, you could change how close or far away you saw things relative to each other on an enlarged scale (pictured). This device allowed users to search for objects or look at any scene from any angle without having to remove their glasses! In 1927, an entrepreneur named Harry Denny founded Denny Optical Supply Company in Terrell. Denny Optical Supply Company manufactured high-quality optical accessories such as telescopes and binoculars for sale through retail stores and museums across America. Throughout the 1930s and 1940s, Terrell continued to grow as a small town while also becoming known as the birthplace of American optoelectronics industry pioneers like Dr. Theodore Shackleton and Drury Loomis II ( pictured ). In 1942, during World War II, Major General Leslie Groves visited Terrell and impressed upon its residents the importance of technological innovation within military arsenals throughout America ( pictured ). After World War II ended in 1945, many residents relocated back intoTerrelland started manufacturing new technologies such as lasers and LCD televisions .

Terrell, Texas is a small town in Marshall County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,716 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. Terrell's economy is based on farming and ranching. The town was founded by Scots-Irish immigrants in 1853. The first settler in Terrell was David MacNeely, who arrived in 1853 from County Monaghan, Ireland. MacNeely married Anna McGowan and they established a farm near present-day Terrell. Other early settlers included James McAteer and his family from Killoran Township in Antrim County, Northern Ireland; John Winters from Cumberland County, Maryland; and Nicholas Donnelly of Knocknaree Township in Fermanagh County, Ireland. In 1856 David MacNeely donated land to the Methodist Church for church services and school purposes. A Baptist church was built soon afterwards on what is now Second Street between Main Street and Elm Street (now First Street). In 1863 Revs George Witherspoon (1848-1927) and Lorenzo Cook (1849-1926) organized the first Methodist Church congregation within sight ofpresent-day Terrell on Third Street east of Main Avenue (now US Highway 281). A post office was established at Terrell in 1858, but it never received enough mail to warrant continuing operation until 1861 when it became known as "McAfee". In 1865terrell had its own jail which held five inmates: three men being charged with larceny/theft while one man alsowas charged with vagrancy/not attending religious service etc.; all were released without trial after paying fines totaxes amounting to $5 each. The local sheriff observed that this type of courthouse detention system prevented large scale crime by reducing opportunity for criminals to commit theft while awaiting trial or transportation back home to face more serious charges thanaelevated fine could offer On July 3RD 1902 two oil wells were discovered just south of present day Terllandiscovered gas bubbles under the surface dating back over 100 years! With this find came great excitement throughout ruralMarshall county because much speculation had surrounded hydraulic fracturing so well as possible new sources of income! Fracking operations commenced immediately with local landowners receiving drilling rights along with 80% production share! By 2006 all production associated with these two wells had ceased leaving little residual gas left over from those initial discoveries! Today only some artifacts remain from those original Well Drilling days including an old compressor building still standing next doorto the current Post Office
