Terrell is located at 32°48′52″N 95°27′17″W (32.7674 degrees north; 95.3167 degrees east). It has an elevation of 304 feet (100 meters). The town is bordered on the south by Archer County (including Midland), on the north by Williamson County (including Amarillo), on the east by Haskell County (including Georgetown), and on the west by Lubbock County (including Odessa). The first settler in what is now Terrell was John Crain who arrived in 1881 from Kentucky with his family. His wifeMary Ann Beeson managed a local grocery store while he built a cabin near present-day Archer Lake for himself and their five children: John Jr., Elisha Beeson II, Infant Jane Beeson Vesta Belle Broadus Harrison born 7/24/1884 daughters of Jane Beeson III & infant son James Belle Harrison IV & infanticide victim Elizabeth “Betsy” Goode Barton born 3/1/1887 daughter of George Barton & BetsyGoode Barrett) . Between 1881-1892 there were only four families living here permanently according to census records but starting about 1893 more permanent settlers started arriving which led to today’s village total population numbering 1,521 according to 2005 US Census data including 318 males+ 448 females
Terrell was founded in 1857 by John and Julia Terrell. The town grew rapidly during the early years of its existence, with residents working in nearby Farmers Branch and Midland. By 1870, Terrell had a population of around 100 people and it became an important transportation hub for the area. In 1914, Terrell was annexed by Midland and renamed Midland Heights.
