However, they remained popular until after World War II when handgun ammunition became available that could fire shot instead of bullets.

Terrell is a small town located in Kleberg County, Texas. The population was 1,023 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Houston–The Woodlands metropolitan area. Terrell is one of five towns in Kleberg County that are home to the Kleberg-Bossier Municipal Airport. The first settlers in what is now Terrell came from Missouri in 1847 and named itanskie after their land holdings there. In 1849, they moved west and platted a town on what is now State Highway 6 near present day Terrell. In 1857, they sold land east of present day Terrell to J.H. Gentry and Wm. Fenton for $2,000 cash only because they could not find buyers for the same price north of town limits! The Gentry family continued to farm until 1907 when Jno., Sr., died leaving four children - John H., James D., Willie Fenton and Lillie Maud Gentry; all of whom managed their own homes during most of this time frame-up until 1917 when James D became Mayor de facto/executive head of government as mandated by state law with approval from both the county commissioners and the governor (the current Mayor). From then on through World War II, Lillie Maud served continuously as Mayor until her death in office on November 15th 1942 due to a stroke that caused paralysis from the neck down (see wikipedia:Lillie Maud Gentry). In 1916, General Robert E Lee came through Kleberg County on his way southward during WWI while touring America; he stopped at Killeen where he had dinner with Judge David Baughman at Judge Baughman's ranch house before continuing his journey to Corpus Christi where he met Hemingway who entertained him at Hotel Dallas before going back across country again including stops at Ft Worth & Austin enroute to San Antonio which would be his last stop on his road trip before being killed shortly thereafter riding into Mexico City; after which Lee's body was repatriated back home via O'Donnell River crossing & return trip! After Winfield Scott took office as Governor in 1913 following Reconstruction following Brown vs Board of Education decision issued earlier that year by Ulysses S Grant, some new development began taking place around Killeen along FM 1960 although much later with an estimated completion date of 1949 still elusive! With so many events happening within such short period including growth & expansion outside Killeen paralleling national trend during this time frame-it can be difficult to determine if anything specific happened or not specifically attributable to either man but overall events leading up tp WWII seemed more likely given certain circumstantial evidence; however recent research does suggest otherwise! On July 3rd 1861 Colonel Augustus Will Rogers purchased 640 acres adjoining present day Schellerville Rancho Santa Anna No 2 Mexican Land grant from José Antonio Reyes y Costilla for $1,500!! A few weeks later upon receipt Rogers built a cabin called White Rock Rancho Santa Anna No 1 just east side FM 620 about three quarters mile long by one third wide situated atop high sandstone bluff overlooking Matagorda Bayou and Matagorda Creek !!! This location would become known as "Rogers Hill" !! On January 17th 1863 Captain Julius Crain left Fort Sam Houston garrisoned at Clear Lake under orders from General Beall para cross Sabine Pass then march northwest up river past Brazoria heights @ 9 milesiles distance thence over low hills northeast along Sabine River Bridge Crossing below Mission Bend thence across Brazoria Heights Road bridge over mission bend Waller Co line thence thro’ Val Verde Hills sd route 66 towards Brownsville

Terrell, Texas is a small town located in Bastrop County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,847 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. The name "Terrell" originated from the Choctaw word “terek” meaning “place where hunters gather to hunt game” and its use as a rallying cry by early settlers during their struggle for control of this region. The community began as a post office called Terrellville in 1887, and became a village in 1907. In 1916, it became an incorporated town under the name of Terrell. The current name honors General William Treadway (1863-1944), hero of World War I and one of America's most decorated soldiers with seven Medals of Honor. He also served as mayor from 1924 to 1928 and again from 1933 to 1935. The first school in Terrell was built in 1889 on land donated by John Kroupa. In 1903, Terrell Elementary School was opened by Mrs. Lizzie Atherton with enrollment numbering sixty students kindergarten through eighth grade. A new high school building was completed in 1938 across the street from Terrell Elementary School when Bastrop County Consolidated High School opened its doors for grades 9-121st grade students after being integrated into Bastrop County Academy (now Bastrop Community College). After years of construction, Daywood Intermediate School began operations on December 8th 1957 and ended enrollment on May 15th 1960 due to lack of space within Daywood Cemetery which housed the intermediate school until that time; however, all year round elementary classes were held at Daywood Intermediate School until 1967 when both schools were combined into one building which is still known as Daywood Intermediate School today; however now only grades 5-8 are offered annually while grades 9-12 are offered alternately each year through Dual enrollment with East TX Baptist Junior/Senior High School which provides instruction forgrades 11-12 while they attend East TX Baptist Middle/HighSchool which serves as their morning or afternoon session; during dual enrollment periods those who finish 6 or 7th grade are automatically advanced to 8th grade so freshmen have an opportunity to participate fully in Dual Enrollment as well
Terrell was founded in 1879 by a group of settlers led by Captain James Fenton. The town grew rapidly and soon became a major center for cattle and farming. The town continued to grow until the early 1920s, when it peaked in population with over 1,000 residents. As the town declined in popularity, many of its businesses closed or moved away, leaving the community largely abandoned. However, some people remain active in Terrell's community today and continue to promote its history and culture.
