In the 1800s, Temple was a small town in Bastrop County, Texas. The town was known for its holsters and pistols. One of the first holster companies in Temple was Ransom & King. They made holsters from 1875 to 1903. In 1903, John Browning started making handguns in Temple. He bought Ransom & King's company and renamed it Browning Firearms Company. This company made pistols, revolvers, shotguns and rifles until 1939. After World War II, the gun industry went into decline because of new technology. However, Holstermakers Corporation resurrected the pistol industry with their latest designs in the 1970s and 1980s. Today there are many holster companies in Texas that make different types of holters for different firearms.

Temple, Texas is a town in Midland County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,671 at the 2010 census. The name of the town may come from the nearby Temple Mount which is also known as "The Rock" and is a place where Muslims can pray. According to one source, the USS Enterprise famously passed by on its way to Saudi Arabia during World War II while anchored off of Temple's shoreline and it is said that President George W. Bush once visited the area while he was Commander-in-Chief of US forces in Iraq.

Temple, Texas is a town in the U.S. state of Texas and is the county seat of Comanche County. The population was 9,521 at the 2010 census, making it the most populous municipality in Comanche County. The name "Temple" comes from an early settler's place-name, White Rock Creek settlement on the banks of White Rock Creek in what is now Temple County. The first white people to live in what are today Temple and Comanche Counties were two men named Ross and Wilhelm Fritsch who came overland from Germany in 1827. They built a cabin on Sinkhole Hill near present day Lamar before moving to their current location about three miles east of Temple on Brushy Fork Road around 1830. In 1868, David Swenson established a ranch called Swenson Place east of present day Temple that became one of Texas' largest cattle ranches with 10,000 head of purebred Longhorns by 1890. In 1880, Rufus Waddell arrived at Sinkhole Hill and began buying land south of Temple for farming purposes which eventually would become the townsite known as Temple Township (after his friend Walter Fenton). A post office called White Rock was established at Sinkhole Hill on July 1, 1883; but due to lack of supplies it remained operational until November 3rd when mail was finally delivered through Wichita Falls by stagecoach. WhenTemple Township was created from parts of Richardson School District #1 in 1907 (later renamed Richardson Independent School District), temple became its original seat with James Dickey elected as its first trustee In 1911 Rev John Meeks organized Methodist Episcopal Zion Church which later moved into its current building across from Main Street (). Reverend Meeks also served as mayor from 1925-1929 In 1928 Dr George Hargrave founded Baylor United Theological Seminary which relocated to downtown Houston after years in Waco . Classes opened for students on September 6th 1929 underDr Hargrave’s leadership and have continued ever since providing education for many future pastors including Billy Graham
The first temple was built in 1856 by the Methodist Episcopal Church. The temple still stands and is used for services today.
