The park went through several name changes over its years including "Blessed Garden" (1988), "Sulpher Fields" (1991), and finally "Majestic Park" (2000). During its heyday as a tourist attraction, Majestic Park drew millions of visitors each year from all over North America. In 2000, Majestic Park was sold to developer Bob Evans Enterprises who made various changes to the property including removing many of the older rides and buildings while leaving most of the landscaping intact. As it turned out, no major updates would be made to Majestic Park for more than 15 years; eventually leading to significant decline in attendance throughout that time period culminating with it closing down completely in 2006 without any fanfare or notice being given to those impacted by its closure other than occasional newsletter mentions from club members or family members associated with site management staff . In 2015 plans resurfaced for redevelopment of what had once been known as “The Meadows” area adjacent thereto which included new housing developments along with an outdoor amphitheater capable seating up TO 1000 people which would have brought back some much needed visitation into what had once been one of Americas most well loved amusement parks . Just months later however after public outcry following news articleerrors within history booklets released by developers not related whatsoever with park reopened under new name still empty . Sulphur Springs is a small town in Johnson County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fort Worth–Arlington Metropolitan Statistical Area. Sulphur Springs was founded in 1876 by farmers from Kentucky and Virginia who had come to the area to find new land for agriculture. The spring that now provides water to Sulphur Springs originated about three miles east of present-day Sulphur Springs on what is now US Highway 287. In 1876, settlers named it "Sulfur Spring", after sulfur dioxide gas given off by the spring's hot water composition (sulfates were then rare). In 1900, writer W.H. Auden decided to move from London to live in Sulphur Springs with his wife Winifred and their two young children; they bought a home on Main Street and named it "The Vineyard". They enjoyed plenty of outdoor activities: playing polo on the nearby hilltops, swimming in springs fed by undergroundewater systems beneath downtown Sulphur Springs, exploring abandoned mines nearby (including one where they found oil shale), playing horseshoes at night near their home or out walking during daylight hours. Auden wrote many of his famous poems hereabouts including "The Sun Also Rises" and "Pack My Bag". He died suddenly while vacationing near Pensacola Beach Florida in 1944 before he could see his family again for six years - much later this would be turned into an annual festival celebrating his life called "Wine & Whimsy."
