When the Sulphur Springs Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1892, they were the first rifle and pistol club in Texas. The club meetings were held at the old armory on Elm Street. The first member to be elected president was Capt. John Prentice. The first meeting of the club was on October 25th, 1892, with a total of 12 members present. In 1897, membership had grown to 22 and by 1901 it had increased to 30 members! In 1912, the Sulphur Springs Rifle and Pistol Club became an affiliated organization with the Texas Rifle Association (TRA). This affiliation lasted until 1922 when TRA decided to disband its rifle and pistol clubs due to differences over gun control policies. In 1938, after World War II ended, membership in the Sulphur Springs Rifle and Pistol Club decreased because many people left for political reasons during that time period. However, after four years of restoration efforts led by future club president Roy Latham*, things began to rebound again in 1946 when membership reached 50! It wasn’t until 1982 that there finally ceased being any rifle or pistol clubs within Sulphur Springs city limits as a result of strict new permitting regulations from state government which prohibited handgun ownership within city limits without prior written consent from all landowners within city limits!* *A later amendment repealed this regulation but not before furtherClub activity had stopped completely*.

One popular attraction for visitors is the sulphurous mud baths which offer therapeutic relief from muscular pain or tension headaches. There are also several restaurants, hotels and other business opportunities available in Sulphur Springs during various times throughout the year. Sulphur Springs has seen some changes in recent years as it transitions into an increasingly diverse community based on its rich history and culture as well as its current economic development opportunities. Some examples include: becoming home to numerous Syrian refugees who have relocated here following ISIS' oppression across much of Syria; hosting annual arts festivals that attract large audiences from aroundtxus; and experiencing rapid growth in its nightlife scene with various bars and clubs opening up along with increasing numbers of jobs Available for young adults living in this vibrant community
