In 1865, the rifle company was bought by George Henry Stephens. In 1893, the rifle company was merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Company to form Winchester-Winchester firearms Corporation. The rifle company continued manufacturing rifles until 1981 when it became part of International Harvester Co., Inc.

The first Europeans to visit what is now Sugar Land were French traders traveling through the area in 1692 on their way to Mexico City. They named the area " La Salle," meaning "the site of sugar cane." A mission was founded here in 1718 by Junípero Serra with assistance from Spanish Conquistadors Francisco de la Garza and Diego de Montoya y Oñate. After Mexican independence from Spain was achieved in 1821, Texas Rangers began patrols over this territory looking for slave-catchers operating out of Mexico City. In 1836, when Sam Houston became president of the United States following his inauguration as an American general at Monterrey Cathedral on January 20th, 1835 (the day before San Antonio), he decided that Texans should have their own capital and named it Texan City rather than New Orleans because there was no evidence that any Mexicans had ever settled within the limits of present-day Houston. This decision marked one major milestone during our history; until then Texan City had been an outpost only serving those living east of Buffalo Bayou

Sugar Land, Texas is a city in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The city was founded in 1859 by James K. Polk as the seat of Cameron County. The population was 498 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth Metropolitan Statistical Area. Sugar Land is located on the southern edge of Dallas-Fort Worth and lies near Beltway 8 and Interstate 10. The first settlers in what is now Sugar Land were a group of Englishmen who arrived in 1795 from Carolina to help start a new colony in what is now Houston, Texas. They named their settlement after William Grant (1752-1828), an Englishman who had become interested in sugarcane farming in what are today central Texas and had bought land there while visiting Mexico City during the Mexican Revolution. When Spanish traders discovered this land they called it "Nuevo Laredo". In 1823 John Fenton opened a store on present day Elmendorf Road and began selling goods necessary for trading with Native Americans including saltpeter, arrowheads, moccasins, blankets and other items used by them for clothing and trade goods such as cornmeal mush which he also made into breads and pies using his ovens on Market Street between Gessner Court and Main Street (now IH35). In 1830 Antonio López de Santa Anna established himself as governor of Tejas Territory west of El Paso over which he held jurisdiction until April 15, 1836 when General Sam Houston took control of that territory from Santa Anna. On December 14th 1840 Stephen Fenton sold all his interests except becoming Mayor to John Dillard who served until 1862 when he was replaced by James Kenedy mayoralty term ended on July 1st 1861 due to Census Act requirements that mayoral terms be two years long After Fort Worth became part of Texas on August 29th 1850 it became important for merchants within its boundaries to have access to cottonseed oil exports through Refineries like Galveston Blanco & Company built on Buffalo Bayou just east of downtown Fort Worth This refinery played an important role because cottonseed oil could only be exported through Corpus Christi where British citizens were already operating refineries manufacturing gasoline beer etc so Fort Worth needed something more efficient so Galveston Blanco & Company was built With this new refinery started production of Cottonseed Oil #1 which continued until 1903 when it finally closed due to Explosion that destroyed plant
