Additionally, during this time period there were several large oil spills that resulted in significant damage to local infrastructure such as roads and bridges; however no casualties were reported as a result of these events. In recent years there has been an increase in development within Sugarland – both residential and commercial – which has led to more than doubling its current population size since 2007 alone! In addition to their growing populations, many residents are now interested in learning more about their history or exploring areas such as downtown SugarLand for classic architecture or interesting historical sites dating back centuries.

A cotton gin was built in about 1840 and began producing large quantities of cotton for export. In 1865, Texas became a state and Sugar Land became its capital city. It remained so until 1971 when Austin moved to Texas State Capitol Hill. The population of SugarLand peaked at over 50,000 during the late 1800s but has since declined due to various factors such as manufacturing moving out of the area orDevelopment elsewhere taking away jobs that used to support sugar plantations
