This area now includes much of Houston metropolitan area while also including parts of Austin and Pasadena districts within Sugarland Township which still retains its original nameakeship derived from its close proximity to sugar mills built near present day Seven Oaks Mall (now known as Sam's Club). In 1836, two men named James Fenton and David Hogg purchased 2,000 acres (900 hectares) along Buffalo Bayou north of Houston for $4 per acre (1/2 hectare). This land would later become known as Fentontown where cotton plantations were established beginning in 1846 by John Kirby Foster Sr., a plantation owner from Tennessee who moved downriver from Nashville following the Civil War under contract with General Andrew Johnson’s Department Of Agriculture. In 1865 Isaac Watts bought 1,200 acres (50 hectares) south east of Fentontown on lands that would eventually form part of downtownHouston when he donated these lands towards that end – walls went up around his orchard soon afterwards! By 1870 there were more than 40 white families living hereabouts; many working at various plantations such as those run by Colonel Robert Gourdine in nearby Buffalo Bayou town limits! However operations stopped abruptly 3 days priorto TX statehood creating numerous controversies ensuing !! A group led by developer Edward Jones managedto get City Hall reversal establishing Ft Worth chemical plant plaza again honoring Sanchez campaign promises !!
