The name changed again to "Zeiss-Aurome" in 1945. From 1948 to 1957, the company was owned by J. Robert Oppenheimer. In 1959,Oppenheimer sold the company to a group of American investors led by David Albright who renamed it "Leupold Corporation." Leupold is still headquartered in Stafford and produces optical products world-wide.

Stafford, Texas is a small town in Gregg County, Texas. The population was 1,953 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Amarillo–Bryan, TX Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to live in Stafford were the Hidatsa and Wichita Native Americans. They built their own village near what is now downtown Stafford on the banks of the Arkansas River. The Wichita chief named Waco called this site "Towne" because they had traded with the人村 (village) around that time. In 1839, Colonel James Foard established a military post here and named it Fort Foard after himself. This was one of severalforts established by US forces during the Mexican-American War because Mexico had not given up its ownership of New Mexico without a fight. In 1861, Confederate General Robert E Stone's army marched through Gregg County from Dallas to invade Texas and capture Austin before turning back towards San Antonio de Bexar (now Houston). As part of Union General Ulysses S Grant's effort to retake Texas for Lincoln, Stone's army burned down Foard's fort at Fort Worth on April 15th 1862 - an event which gained him national notoriety. The fort still stands today as a reminder of that day in history. When World War II began on September 2nd 1939, Stafford was one of 87 towns located within 8 miles of Amarillo to be activated for wartime production activities including munitions manufacturing and shipbuilding. With war looming large in Europe and America, Stafford residents put all their resources into building equipment needed for war production such as cars and trucks both local production facilities such as Ford Motors Company plant #3A & 3B at central square & nearby Pecos Lake while also assembling ammunition stockpiles throughout town at various sites/facilities until March 1945 when all Produce ended due to lack of demand from Axis Powers Germany & Italy only weeks prior!

The area became part of the Mexican Republic after its independence from Spain in 1821. In 1865, General Sam Houston and his army invaded Mexico and discovered the site of what would later become Stafford. They named it "Houston" in honor of the general. The town began to grow quickly due to its strategic location and easy access to resources such as water and land. By 1900, Stafford had a population of around 4,000 people. Over time, the town's economy grew increasingly diversified as it became known for its manufacturing industry including paper products, plastics, automobiles and other vehicles. In 2006, Stafford was designated an official city by Governor Rick Perry.
