Stafford, Texas is a city in the U.S. state of Texas and the county seat of Jack County. The population was 1,593 at the 2010 census. The history of Stafford begins with James Stafford's arrival from Ireland on horseback in 1876. He named the area he located near what is now known as Texarkana after himself and started trading goods along the Arkansas River for goods brought overland from Mexico City by wagonloads of settlers going through that region during the years beforeTexarkana became a permanent settlement - including many Irishmen who had come west looking for new opportunities and adventure following their own failed attempts at establishing themselves east of the Rockies. In 1898 when construction began on what would become DPSD High School (now known as South High), Jimmie Lee Jackson was one of those early students who walked across State Line Road into Nowata County to attend school there Wacoal Creek Elementary School while his parents attended DPSD just down the street - both leaving him behind with siblings Leah and Anna Mae aged 9 months and 3 years old respectively back home at their father's ranch home until he finally completed high school classes here at DPSD starting in 1922... but even back then some activity took place outside our doors! On December 15th 1922nd President Warren G Harding dedicated New DPSD Administration Building – also know as Agriculture Annex building – located northwest corner Of Main Street & Old US Highway 82… inside current day Park Avenue @ 509 S Wall Street: PRESIDING ROOM WAS A LARGE BEDROOM WITH AN ENTRANCE TO THE BACK THAT HAD A PICTURE OF GOD UPON THE DOOR AS WELL AS AN OPEN WALL ON ONE SIDE THAT SERVED AS A KITCHEN AND DINNERY AREA! The community name comes from General James H. Stafford who served as governor of Texas (1858-60) and congressman from Collin County (1875-77). A large cotton plantation known as White Settlement was built by J.B. White in 1840 on land that now includes most of the northwest corner of Hudspeth County including Stafford Township and parts of Slaughter and Irvington Counties to the south In 1851 they built a sawmill here which became one of the largest mills west of Houston The mill closed around 1880 Although it continued to produce lumber until 1906 it had been supplanted by other mills within a few years
