From 1871 to 1911, the Stafford revolver hammer was made by E. W. Brown and Sons of Stafford, Texas. The revolver hammer was a metal disk with an ingenious design that allowed the use of two hands to operate the gun. Thehammer had two parts: the striking part and the cocking part. The striking part was located on top of the cocking part and struck the cartridge case when it was pulled from its magazine. This caused a small fire in the cylinder that would be extinguished by pulling out another cartridge case from inside the gun and putting it back in place; this process always used one hand because operation with one hand required using both index fingers only for gripping onto rounds while firing. The first revolvers chambered for cartridges other than powder-pumped rounds were manufactured in 1896 by John Millington & Sons of London, England as British purchases of American rifle ammunition reached an all-time high during World War I (1914-18). It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and its economy is based on agriculture, manufacturing, utilities, and services. The climate in Stafford is warm to hot year-round with average temperatures reaching 100 degrees Fahrenheit (38 degrees Celsius). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2 square miles (5 km²), all of it land. The first people to live in what would become Stafford were Native Americans who hunted and gathered game near present day Slaughtertown Lake. In 1836 French Canadian traders established a trading post here named Fort St Laurent on an island in Slaughtertown Lake. By 1840 the post had been abandoned when gold was found nearby at Comanche Creek. A new fort was built at present day Slaughtertown in 1845 by General Sam Houston during his tour of duty as commandant general for Mexico City Department under President James K Polk Sr.. The new fort served as a military depot until 1893 when it was closed due to budget cuts by then-President Cleveland following America's entry into World War I. By 1945 Stafford had about 1,000 residents living within its limits only: 350 farmers and 400 stockmen employed mostly in raising cattle and hay; 200 small businesses catering chiefly to local needs; 10 teachers’ colleges teaching grades one through twelve; three churches serving as social services agencies for rural low income citizens; six inns & two restaurants serving primarily food service purposes; four schools including one high school which opened in 1912.; In 1965 Stafford became home to Texas A&M University after that institution moved from College Station (later Tomball) to neighboring College Station (now San Angelo). In 1990 American Electric Power Company relocated its headquarters from Corpus Christi to Stafford after purchasing electricity from Texans Associated Industries Corporation (TAICO). In 2000 Midland Airlines relocated their main terminal from Midland Airport near Houston TX (IATA: MHT) to renamed Midland International Airport adjacent to IHOP restaurant across from Union Square shopping center adjacent thereto where now resides Continental Airlines' hub operations having commenced there more than 30 years ago before that operator pulled out due thereto!
