Stafford is a small town in Williamson County, Texas, United States. The population was 3,888 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin-The Woodlands metropolitan area. Stafford is named after Colonel Henry Stafford, who led American troops during the Mexican-American War and later became a U.S. Senator from Texas. Stafford was founded by John Hutton in 1859 as Township No. 7 on the edge of present day Staffordshire County. In 1875, it merged with other townships to form what is now Williamson County. John Hutton's father, George Hutton (1814–1892), had come to America from England in 1831 and homesteaded near present day Sutherland Springs, Fort Worth County in what is now San Antonio County. He bought 6 acres (2 ha) of land east of today's Trenton Road for $900 in 1845 and began developing it into a farmstead called Hoketown which he named Stafford Place after his son-in-law Drury Lane Johnston, an American doctor and explorer who had been born in Staffordshire, England about 1824 In 1861 Colonel Henry Stafford arrived at Ft Stockton to lead American forces during the Mexican-American War before becoming a U.S. Senator from Texas . When war broke out he enlisted as captain with Company A 1st Texan Infantry Regiment under General Zachary Taylor on October 26th 1861 colonel stafford's regiment fought bravely against Mexico but lost many men including some officers including Staffords eldest son James AverellStafford was elected to Congress representing Texas as a Democrat in 1865 then served two terms until his death March 4th 1870 due to pneumonia while lying in bed having just recovered from surgery In 1886 James Averell married Sarah Jane Freeman daughter of Judge Samuel Freeman of Eagle Pass

Stafford, Texas is a town in Johnson County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,895 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. The first post office in Stafford was established on December 21, 1871. The name of the town may have been derived from "Staffordshire", a county in England. A post office called Stafford Heights was established on November 16, 1924 and discontinued operation on October 15, 1926. In 1916 (just before World War I), Mexico sent an American Expeditionary Force to fight for Mexican independence; it numbered about 1,500 men and women but never arrived in time for battle due to problems with transportation and supplies. Mexican General Antonio López de Santa Anna ordered all Americans who had fought for Mexico since 1898 to be interned at Fort Sam Houston because he felt that they were aiding “foreign enemies” instead of fighting against them. These people were later given the choice of returning home or being killed as traitors by their government; most chose to stay and fight against Mexico under new U.S.-Mexican leadership when war ended two years later. When World War II began America began deportation proceedings based on Nazi persecution laws known as The Nuremberg Laws which targeted Jews living in Europe who had not committed any crimes specific to Jewry such as owning property or working professions outside of Germany or Austria-Hungary (a term used then also to describe Hungarian Jews). Many people in Stafford refused to participate in these measures because they felt that they would just as soon die than go back into hiding like so many others across Europe during this time period On September 9th 1942 about 400 Americans including men and women auxiliaries from Company C2d/5th Marines (USMC) landed at San Isidro Naval Base south of Corpus Christi Bay after taking cover behind friendly shore batteries during advance patrols through bad weather off San Fernando Island following successful amphibious landings ashore at Pearl Harbor Hawaiian Islands .
