In response to these shortagesSeagullOptical Manufacturers petitioned ARRA for funding to develop innovative new methods of producing glass lenses? The first successful experiment with newly created plastic lens material was conducted at Seagull's plant near Arlington Heights IL on October 25th 1948?? This project lead to the creation of what is now known as HDCP (High Definition Color Technology). -In 1947 HDCP successfully transmitted color video over short range air links between two televisions set inside a window - this demonstration showed that existing television networks could be used effectively for transmitting color images over short ranges
