In Southlake, Texas, the Gun Owners of America (GOA) has been working to protect firearms since 1978. The GOA is a non-profit organization that works to promote responsible gun ownership and protect Second Amendment rights. The GOA's efforts began with the formation of the Southlake Rifle Club in 1978. The club was designed to provide support for local hunters and shooters and help teach young people about firearm safety. In 1984, the GOA formed a committee to create regulations surrounding concealed carry permit applications and handgun possession. This led to passage of new laws governing gun ownership including the Gun Control Act of 1968 which required universal background checks on all purchasers as well as registration of all handguns within 60 days after purchase In 1993, President Bill Clinton signed into law Amendments No 3 & 4 To The Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act which amended The National Firearms Act # 1934) To prohibit any person from possessing any weapon except a pistol or shotgun fit only for sporting purposes’ These amendments took effect on March 31st 1994

Southlake, Texas is a small town located in Williamson County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,812 at the 2000 census. Southlake is one of the oldest towns in Williamson County and has been around since 1876. The first settlers in what is now Southlake were people from Illinois who came to the area during the early 1870s looking for new land to settle. They named their community after General James K. Polk when he became President of the United States in 1884. Today’s south side of town was first settled by African Americans who worked on farms near present-day downtown Southlake. In 1865, white men from Tennessee discovered gold near present-day Loop 1604 and started to prospect for ore in what is now Williamson County. When they didn’t find any gold worth mining, they abandoned their search and returned home before settling down in Williamson County again some time later. In 1876, two groups of men left Illinois and began homesteading in what would become Southlake. One group consisted of Simeon Hite and David Whitehead while the other group consisted of John Witherspoon and Isaac Newton with help from Jotham Pearce (a Tennessee man). The first store opened up in what is today south side of town on Main Street between Walnut Street and Elm Street about a year later on October 15th,. It was called “The Blacksmith Shop” because most of the tools used for farming were made out of blacksmith shop fittings such as anvils, hammers, stocks etcetera which were also very affordable at that time because there wasn’t much industry available outside cities like Dallas or Houston at that time. In 1898, when Prohibition caused many businesses to close down across America due to lack of tax revenues it had a big impact on Southlake too as many people lost their jobs which led to even more people coming into town looking for work instead of staying away because prohibition made it extremely difficult to get any type Of income other than Farming or raising livestock so most residents stuck around until things changed around 1920 which we will discuss later on In 1920, after years worth efforts by local officials as well as state officials working together under Governor Edwin Edwards (D) attempts failed overall due to lack thereof resources including

In 1847, a group of Texans led by John Crain formed the Republic of Texas and declared themselves an independent nation. On November 16, 1848, they were successful in gaining independence from Mexico and became the 26th state in America. The city of Southlake traces its beginnings to 1836 when it was founded as a town on the banks of Buffalo Bayou by settlers who came from Texas City in Coahuila Territory. It grew quickly due to its location on major trade routes linking Texas with slave-producing areas in Missouri and Arkansas. In 1860, while Southlake remained a small town, it played an important role in helping leadoulturn the American Civil War because many local citizens donated goods and services to help Confederate forces fight against Union forces.
