The first handguns that used breech-loading cartridges were made by Mr. John J. Nicol in 1851. These pistols had a magazine that held five rounds of ammunition which was inserted into the front of the gun through a small opening on the side of the barrel near where the hand grip was located. These pistols were called “Nicol Pistols” because they were made by John J. Nicol himself. The Gun Pouch company was started by Major General James Hogg in 1875 and produced holsters and other firearm accessories until 1912 when it merged with Blackhawk Armory Company, which also produced holster products under its own name until 1954 when it merged with Colt Firearms Corporation to form Colt-Blackhawk Incorporated (CBL). In 1957, CBL became divisions of Colt Industries, Inc., making it one of America’s largest handgun manufacturers outside of law enforcement and military firearms users who are licensed to purchase those types of firearms from federally licensed dealers only! In 1911, Socorro resident Wm Smedley formed his Own Protection Company with intent to provide personal security for individuals travelling along I-10 during business days or using their vehicles as part of their job responsibilities at night time; this service evolved into modern day gun smuggling operations known as “Scooby Doo Guns” run out of Socorro! This type operation utilized large duffel bags filled with assorted loaded guns including revolvers, shotguns, rifles and machineguns - all cloaked inside brightly colored PVC gloves! It is these type OF operations that often lead law enforcement officials on foot deep into rural areas conducting manhunt style searches for suspects never suspecting that these caches full of weapons could contain anything but criminal mischief! It is located on Socorro Island in Socorro Lake. The first European to visit Socorro Island was José Francisco de la Cueva y Valdivia, who sighted it on November 12, 1795 while sailing from San Miguel de Allende to Santa Fé on his expedition down the Rio Grande. He named it Isla de los Angeles after General Antonio López de Santa Anna's army that had fought against Spain at Monterrey during the Mexican War of Independence. In 1846, when all of New Mexico became part of the United States following its admission as a state, Socorro Island became part of Albuquerque County. The island's original inhabitants were Mescalero Apache Indians who used it for hunting and fishing opportunities. In 1875 Alvarado Peak (formerly known as Pyramid Peak) was donated to society by Admiral George Dewey in order to commemorate America's victory over Mexico at Palo Alto in 1867; however no one lived on the peak until 1924 when Mrs. Hilda Atherton built a cabin thereon which still stands today as one of Socorro's most important landmarks The city began to grow rapidly after Socorros incorporation into Albuquerque County in 1912. By 1925 there were more than 2,000 residents living in what is now downtown Socorro with accompanying businesses and warehouses lining both sides of First Street between Locust and Broadway Streets NW. Thanks largely to railroad construction through central New Mexico during World War I local industry boomed with munitions plants coming online such as SAE Company No2 Ammunition Plant #3 and Bethlehem Steel Corporation’s Bellaire plant assembling tanks for US war effort In 1938 socorrros mayor Manuel Peralta persuaded then-Governor Alfonso Reyes not to annex eastern parts of Bernalillo County including Socorro because this would have created another large municipality within city limits with less autonomy However annexation did happen later that year due primarily to pressure from citizens concerned about crime rates within their boundaries

In addition to agriculture there are also forestry activities taking place including coal mining as well as oil drilling offshore near where the offshore platforms are located that produce natural gas reserves being developed by ExxonMobilTexaco Incorporated (XONOCOR) and other companies related thereto."
Socorro was founded in 1827 by José de Jesus Fuentes and his wife, Elvira. It was the first town in Texas. The name of the settlement comes from Socorro Creek which flows through it. In 1836, Socorro became the capital of New Mexico when Santa Fe was established as its capital.
